First let me say thanks again to JoelFB and the Dev team at FB. Particularly it was JoelFB's quick responses to questions as well as his sticky threads for FB games of thanking customers and obviously helping lots of other people that led me to check out other games besides Trine and thus buy the Shadowgrounds pack.

I started playing already and enjoy this game as well.

My daughter saw me playing and since the game has Co-op we tried to play together, but the joystick I have isn't good enough as you can't aim with it and only 4 buttons.

Let me next say that I have been a PC gamer pretty much all my life and have rarely played any console games.

Using a controller for a PC is pretty much unthinkable to me. However, I think it is time to break down and get one as sooooooo many games today are built with game controllers in mind, especially in the case of co-op games for the same PC like this game (or another example where I need a controller would be Magic).

Since I am completely new to the world of using a controller for PCs, can anyone make some recommendations, specifically a controller that would work with the Shadowground games. I need a controller that will both be able to aim (like a mouse) and move the character.

From the little looking around I was thinking of the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad, but I am open to suggestions and input.

Heh, thanks for the kind words. :) Glad to hear you're enjoying the SG games too.

My suggestion for a PC gamepad is either Logitech Rumblepad 2 or the wired Xbox 360 Controller (I think the wired PC version comes in red plastic casing, but it also works in the Xbox 360). The decision between these two kind of depends on whether you want to play older games or newer games. I would imagine the Rumblepad 2 works better in older games whereas the Xbox 360 Controller works better in newer games (i.e. new games will probably think of the Xbox 360 Controller as the 'default' PC controller). I must admit I haven't really played a lot of (recent) PC games with gamepads either so I'm not 100% sure though.

Case in point: The original Shadowgrounds works slightly better with Rumblepad 2 (see the complaint thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1149287) about the Xbox 360 Controller, Shadowgrounds Survivor works fine with either and Trine works fine with either.

Logitech Dual Action is ok too but I do believe it's slightly older than Rumblepad 2 - however, it should be pretty much the same except for the missing rumble feature (which is useless in most games anyhow). The price difference should be minimal (like $5). So just to be safe I would go with Rumblepad 2, and if it's not available then Dual Action.

I hope this helps a bit - maybe someone else can throw in their two cents too.

Well, so, if the only major difference is that the Rumble has force feedback, Logitech Dual Action would be fine, but are you saying you are not sure if it would work with SG and Trine?

Because if the Dual Action doesn't work then that would narrow done my decision of course, but would like to know for sure.

I'm not 100% sure because we don't have any Dual Actions here. :) So that's why I'm only comfortable recommending Rumblepad 2.

In all honesty I'm quite sure Dual Action works just fine, I think others have used it in the past, but I don't want to take the responsibility if any problems come up. (I'll still try to help of course.)

Just FYI, I did get the Logitech Dual Action, mainly because at the Best Buy I stopped at that is all I saw... LOL

Anyways, it works with Shadowgrounds perfectly fine.

Edit: Not only that be required no reconfiguring at all, just using the default "joypad 1" etc profiles works.

With Trine...hmm..well I am going to post about that in that Topic.

Good to hear. :) (And I replied to the Trine topic too.)
