With a cable modem and 64-bit Windows 7... I have no server issues or gameplay issues...
Settlers 7 surprised me with fun for an old strategy fan :)

Wait until your internet goes down.
Requiring internet access for a game isn't too much of a big deal imo. ADSL and cable lines don't go down very often... not often enough for it to be a problem. It's more likely for the power in the house to go in my experience.

What about their servers.
I'm connected to the internet right now obviously and it says I can't connect to the ubisoft servers..
So their issues effect me now.

It will bother you when you try to play and their servers are down. Like now.

Granted.
However if they were to sort that out, then servers won't be a problem either. You may argue Ubisoft are incompetent, however internet based DRM doesn't have to be a problem due to servers being down. Take Steam as an example... I can't remember not being able to login. If Ubisoft could be that stable, then we're all good.
I am more arguing the principle or internet based DRM, rather than Ubisoft specifically (who you may well be able to argue are not up to the job).

I really wanted this as well Assasins creed 2 :(
But, they lost a sale due to this type of DRM. I will not support its use sadly.
I understand and Im fine with needing a internet connection to activate a game. DRM is a neccassary evil.
However, needing access constantly to play is simply stupid. It will not stop those who choose to steal the game anyway in the end, and only hurts paying customers.
If the servers are down. No play time.
If your internet is down for some reason, no play time.
What if I want to play on my laptop, and no internet connection is available for some reason where I am atm?
Maybe I just dont want my gaming PC connected to net all the time.
Theres numerous reasons this is a really BAD idea.
While it may true servers are up most of the time, even steams is, thats not a good reason to force it IMHO.
Steam servers are usually up, but you can disconnect if you so choose to and still are able to play your games offline.
This type of DRM, you have no such choice.

Eh, the "average" for European ISPs is five resynchs per day. I dont know where you live but my power goes down virtually never.
Maybe you just dont notice it resynching as it just looks like a little glitch and most things wont react. Except S7. Most people arent using services that will react obviously to a very brief outage. I am sure if more games start using it the public will become better informed and less tolerant. At the end of the day its just a game so its doesnt really matter than much but I can imagine games where this would annoy me more so I am not buying on principle.
Where I work we manufacturer voip solutions. I can promise you, ADSL in most European countries is a massive pain in the ♥♥♥ according to anyone in our services business.
