can only play in 640x480.
Just buy the PS2 version and mount the ISO with PCSX2, runs much better.
Capcom = Turdware in my book now.

Onimusha 3 is the same way.
What is the point of buying a PC version of a game, when the console version runs 10000000% better... In the native resolution of your monitor, MSAA, and Texture filtering.
Oh well, at least street fighter resembles a semi functional game. Atleast they got the resolution and controller setup properly.

I'm pretty sure they outsourced PC development of DMC3/Onimusha/RE4 to some idiots instead of Capcom doing it themselves like with recent games.

DMC3, Onimusha 3, and Resident Evil 4 were not ported to PC by Capcom.

Yeah, I don't blame Capcom directly for the crapiness of this port, HOWEVER, it is still their fault in the end for selling the PC publishing rights to Ubisoft, who obviously didn't give a damn about the quality of the port.
Capcom also shot themselves in the foot because so many people were wary of RE5 and DMC4 on PC after this debacle.

RE5 and DMC4 atleast run in modern resolutions. THe other 2 are really bad ports.
I mean really, I have a 55 in HDTV I use for my monitor... The game runs in a tiny little corner of the screen. (about 1/8th)
If I knew UBI soft had anything to do with the games, i would not have bought them.
UBIsoft has the new DRM that makes you always be online to play a single player game (*splintercel)
For this fact alone I have stopped buying Ubisoft for me and my kids. (yes, I skrew of at work playing games on my break times :p )

Hello~ I am having the same issue with DMC 3: SE. I bought it when it was on sale on Steam and I can't get it to play on anything but 640 x 480. It is crazy small on my monitor - just a small square. :(
On the options screen in game, there are no other resolutions available either.
Those who said they got it working fine on windows 7, how? I even tried modifying the dmc3se.ini file. But it doesn't seem like its using that either since it doesn't work. I downloaded Capcom's 1.30 patch for the game that claimed it fixes resolution issues, but it won't install because it can't find the installation path for DMC3 due to Steam - and there's no option to tell it to look elsewhere. Ugh.
Is it a Steam issue with the resolution problem? Or a known issue with Windows 7 and DMC3:SE?
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.

If you're having trouble with resolutions, try setting your desktop to a 4:3 resolution and see if you can change the resolution in game after that. That's what I did, and the game loads up at the right resolution after I changed my desktop resolution back.

If you have installed steam in 'C:\Program Files (x86)' then you could try and run this game as administrator as the Program Files directory is restricted, which can cause problems with old games and accessing the registry.
(Note: I only have dmc3 retail so I'm guessing the folder name)
navigate to your Steam\SteamApps\common\devil may cry 3 folder
Right click DMC3SE.exe and in the compatibility tab check run this program as administrator.
If your steam folder is not in Program Files folder then i don't know.

yea,
thanks guys.
This is the last capcom game I ever buy.
I just tried DMC4, and I can only go up to 800x600.
sorry to take everyoes time. the games are flawed beyond playability for me.
I wish we could give away games to other steam members that we do not like.
Or at least get a discount , if we "return" the game to steam.
