Single Player game start failure

Battlefield 2 new install on my Desktop Gaming system.
First complaint:
I had to install Gamespy Comrade.
What's with that?
2nd:
Game in Single Player. Click on Single Player Start and the game window closes with no warning or error message.
We will see what happens on my MSI gaming notebook.

yeah wtf, i hate comrade, but i had to go thru installation over and over if not install it..

I don't remember having to install Gamespy Comrade, is it a Steam verson thing?
