I'm having trouble getting sound to work with DosBox on the X-Com series. It was working with Vista (x64) on this same computer (Core i7 920, Asus p6t SE board, Nvidia GTX 285). I get the following message from DosBox .72
MIXER: Can't open audio: Direct Sound Create: No audio device found, running in no sound mode.
MIDI: Opened device:none
And when I tried to update to DosBox .74 I get the exact same messages.
Also, the mouse won't work in full screen mode, and I can't switch between full screen and window mode with alt-Enter.
Anybody have any suggestions?

Also, I've found that I can't use my keyboard in-game, which prevents me from saving (can't type in a save game name).

Wow, looks like something is really messed up with the installation or setup. It works perfectly for me in Win7 Pro 64bit.
Have you tried deleting the Xcom folder in the Steam directory and have Steam redownload all the files?

I've tried that several times, it's a DosBox problem, not a steam or X-Com problem. Those are DosBox, not X-com error messages.

Can't be a dosbox problem if you said it was working before.

By DosBox problem, I mean it's a problem related to DosBox not getting along with Windows in some fashion, not a problem specific to X-Com.

I am having the exact same problem.
Sound I can circumvent by installing my good old Audigy 2, but the mouse/keyboard issues are the things that are killing me.
Again, Keyboard is unresponsive, Mouse only works in windowed mode. Win 7 64-bit Home edition
