Joining an event

How do I join an event. Steam popped up a dialog box saying an event has started but how do I join it? There's supposed to be a community event today but it says I'm 1hr late. I don't understand what to do... Please help. Thanks.

Come on guys. I killed myself working for my club and advertising for it. I put explanations everywhere on how we arrange events and what we should do in order to stay connected and keep the club alive! After all of that, less than 5 people of the ~185 -excluding moderators- have realized that and done what I requested!
