I got this game for 2.49 and have almost 100 hours playing it. Best bang for the buck game ever.

Wow! I just played the first 3 levels and I am digging this game. I have been buying games this week that are different from the FPS games I have been playing. This game is awesome. Well worth the money. Great visuals and music as well.
I see they have some DLC/MAPS for sale. When buying these do they get put into the original game or do you need to start those maps seperate like a seperate game?

This is a great game and I don't play strategy. I'm hooked. I bought all the DLCs in an instant.

So the DLC gets added into the game? Like I said I don't want 4 seperate DLC links in my game list that I need to launch to play these extra maps when the time comes.

Yes, it's all in game. You will see it under Borderland DLC in Campaign Selection menu.

Yes, it's all in game. You will see it under Borderland DLC in Campaign Selection menu.
The borderland campaign will be there, but the Resurgence DLC will be in it's own section just under Borderland and The Awakening. But yeah, it's all in one game. It's not like the civ expansions.
The game is a bargain at 3x the price. I bought all the DLC the first chance I had because I knew it would be quality. If there's ever a sequel or more DLC, I'll snatch it up instantly as well.

Easily was worth the price tag during the summer sale, saved me money to put towards DLC as well. I enjoyed adding something other than FPS to my roster as well.

This is one of those games that is definitely worth $10. I think I got it on sale for $5 last Christmas during the holiday sale and also bought all 4 DLC's. It's an awesome game and I really look forward to Defense Grid 2!

But I was able to get the DLC on sale! :)
Anyway, what is this DG 2? Is this for real? They have officially said they are working on it?

AFAIK, no, it's not official. But DG is magic and though I don't know the sales numbers, I do know there's little point in releasing DLC for a game that hasn't sold well. So while I gather Hidden Path probably needs partners before it can happen officially, I believe it will happen.

Yea, sorry to elude that DG2 was in the works. I figured that, considering it's success, a sequel is inevitable. Here's to hoping for a sequel.

I own about fifty indie games on Steam, and this game has stolen the most hours from me. 30+ in and haven't even started the DLC. It's one of those rare gems that makes you want to go for all achievements and challenges.

I'm wanting this game, but I want to know is it worth $10? Because I missed the day it was on sale, and I don't want to pay 4 or 5 times the price just because I missed the sale. Is it worth waiting for the next sale, or till a possible Defense Grid 2?
Also, I would be be getting the DLC for it. Whether I buy now or next sale.

It would definitely be worth that much to me. I've logged over 100 hours and I still play in the weekly wednesday challenge. Do you like strategy games or Tower Defense more specifically?
Other than the early tutorialish levels, most levels have about 5 modes, some more. There's 4 free DLC (Borderlands) after the main campaign that will come with it when buy the game, and then there's the 8 Resurgence DLC levels and all their modes that you already know about. If you take a liking to Grinder and Super Grinder, easily the longest modes in the game, there's a TON of play time to be had in this game. Great bang for the buck even at full price.
AFAIK, DG2 isn't in planning stages yet. We all hope it happens eventually, but I'm not sure waiting for it makes sense.

Yes, I do like Tower Defense games a lot. But my friends say they aren't worth buying since you can play simple ones on the internet for free. That's why I wish I saw this in the sale, but I missed it. I would of totally bought this for $2 or $5. But $10 is just too much extra to pay just because I missed the sale. Also the extra 4 dollars added for DLC.
Btw the only other Tower Defense game I would care about buying is Savage Moon (for PS3), but I'm unsure about it, so I left it alone. Is this one much better, or equal to it?

Never heard of the PS3 one. But as for free flash TD, you usually get what you pay for. There are few nice ones, I lost quite a bit of productivity on Desktop Tower Defense, but even the best flat out don't compare to Defense Grid.
The average $60 shootem up for PS360 is $60. They try to give you something like 20 hours of play time. If you think you're the type of person who could really get into this, like myself a lot of others here with 100+ hours under their belt, $14 for 100 hours is a pretty good deal. I guarantee you you miss sales by a tiny bit all the time and pay full price anyway without feeling bad. The only reason it bothers you now is because you know there was a sale. How are you gonna feel when you miss the next sale by a day and you keep putting off getting the game and never buy it?

$10 is more than reasonable, and supports an indie developer putting out a quality title. Many of us have in excess of 100 hours in this game. How are you going to get quality games if you refuse to pay more than a pittance for them? Quality deserves reward, and $10 is hardly breaking the bank.

This game is a steal for 10$. I would have gladly payed 30$ and it still would have been a great deal.
It's like fortunz said:
There are so many dumb war shooter games out there that have a singleplayer duration of 8 hours and the only innovative thing is usually how much blood is spilled (sorry all you FPS fans out there ). Yet everybody is willing to pay 60$ and more.
And you complain about the DLC price ? Hello ? A modern Warfare 2 mapmack costs 15$ for 5 new maps, of which 2 have been used in the predecessor! Here with DG you get 8 brand-new maps for less than 4$ - and you don't play a map just once, there are usually 5 different modes available!
DG is a gem. It is absolutely remarkable and you can tell by many little details that it's done by people who really care about their game.

I saw this title because of the sale. I would have paid $10 for it. As it stands now $14 (with DLC) is a great price for this game. The game play, music, graphics etc make this title worth $20 in my opinion. The quality is top notch.

This game is worth it. I currently have alot more then 100 hours gamplay time and im still enjoying it and have not completed everything yet. This is an awesome game and I agree with TrippleD. Everything about this game is great.
If I knew how much fun I would have with it before I purchaced it I could have paid a little more then I did. But I didnt know that back then, and because of that this pricing is just the right one. If it had been more expensive I might not have tried it.
I will keep an eye out for other games Hidden Path Entertainment creates in the future. :)

Well, Ok. I'm pretty much set on buying this game and it's DLC. But have a few questions. I hear that this game has 20 maps, and that the steam store says "Now includes Defense Grid: Borderlands DLC!", is this part of the 20 maps? Buying this game and it's DLC gives how many levels, 28?

I have not even finished story mode yet, (I just started with 14hrs playing so far). I see 20 maps in that campain. 4 maps for Borderlands and 8 maps for Resurgence. A total of 32.
I am so digging this game.

Cool, 32 maps is a lot. Anyways I just bought the game :3
But I'm about the buy the DLC and I want to know: Do I have to start the game or get somewhere in it first? Or can I buy the DLC right away?

No. I bought the DLC at the same time as I bought DG. It will apear inside your game menu as an option to play. You don't need to finish/unlock any of the 20 maps to play either of the DLC.
Meantime I am still stuck on map 20 "Last Stand". It will be a while before I get to the DLC. I am getting my butt kicked. :(

Strange, I didn't find 'Last Stand' to be nearly as hard as most of the other end levels. You just have to make those aliens do some serious legwork while you beat them up ;)

This is really a great game.
Many thanks to the developers for this gem.
I'm really playing much and I've seen so many games but there are only a few which keep me entertained again and again!
DG is definitely on of them.
The maps are so well balanced! It's really a joy to find out how to place the turrets.
It would be really nice to see DG2 with heavy DX11 graphics :) I would pre-order it blind even if it would cost more than 20$!
