I had quite advanced in the game. Today I deleted everything in the Steam folder except the steamapp folder of course. Now when I run DG, all my stats and unlocks are gone. This is quite annoying. I was at map 17 and now they are all locked again.
Why is this? If DG saves anything on hard, it shouldn't be erased by what I did. Where exactly DG puts that information?
Any thing I can do to unlocked all he maps in the main campaign? Please help! :o

I thought saves are not stored in the apps folder?

There are 2 possibilities. Some save in where the game is installed, some save in the user data. I didn't touch either of those. I should not have lost anything!

This =enzyme cheat to unlock doesn't work for me. What should happen so I can be sure I'm doing it correctly? I see nothing and nothing unlocks. I have a French keyboard and I type both =enzyme and 4enzyme in the main menu with no success.

When I type z for =enzyme, it works like the up arrow and the menu selection goes up.

To late, but maybe for the next time. (I lost my progress too after a Steam reinstallation).

While Defense Grid doesn't actually use Steam Cloud, it stores its save data in the Steam Cloud folder (Steam\Userdata\), so, unfortunately, you did delete your save.

Good to know. Sorry Zodler.

This is bad policy/programming. Developers of DG should change this. Save it in user data like all the other games.

I can think of many games that I would despise if I had to replay them. This is not one.
Start over.

It's almost a blessing in disguise. I actually delete my Civ Rev "medals" every so often because it gives me more of a reason to replay certain factions. 10 to 1 your scores will be much higher this time around.
Honestly, depending on how long it takes for more content to hit the streets, I might just purposefully do this so I can wipe the slate clean and redo each level (easier to not lose track of which levels/modes I'd already redone in the middle).

Whilst I feel for anyone who's lost data, doesn't anyone take backups any more!?
My entire machine is backed up daily, including my entire Steam folder which is nearly 400GB in size. It's saved my life on a couple of occasions, once when an L4D2 update went wrong and rendered the game unplayable and again when MW2 went into an endless download loop.
yet lost all my saved data again, this is annoying tbh.
Hmm maybe steamcloud might be a good idea to implant i guess.
