Uh medics , SCIENCE class guys ?? you know that big claw that shoots the long whitish ray? You know the one that can save a teammate from certain death while you're playing sniper with the other guns?
Think it would be too much trouble if you switched the gun and used the HEALING RAY on your teammates ? hmmm ? I know you're having fun growing rust in a corner to be bothered but since we were kind of depending on you to heal us to keep us alive would it be too much TROUBLE! HUH ?!
You could also throw a grenade that works too , we just thought it would be nice NOT TO DIE next to our medic as he tries to act like a RECON or Soldier class.

I play the Scientist class very often (atm my fav class) and I'm always using the raygun and heal people with it, and with nades (gives good XP too ;) ), but not all do this..
Also there nice perks that keep you alive while healing.
So, use it.

1. Why don't you be a scientist and heal, and stop whining.

You don't have to play healer just because you're using a Scientist. Out of all three of my Scientist setups, only one is a dedicated healer, the other two being for light flanking support with Disguise and for protecting certain areas of interest with a Rocket Sentry.
Just because you see a plane flying around, doesn't mean they're going to heal you, or even have a Repair Ray to heal you with.

This reminds me of people complaining about other people not playing Medic in TF2. I believe Arnold said it best in Kindergarten Cop, "stop whining."
My only regret is without voice chat I have no way of thanking a Scientist who is healing me. So thank you to those who heal.
Sorry if the lack of healz is wreaking your ranking JudgeofShadow.

My function is to heal when Im a Science class I have other weapons , but Im often rushing to a teammate who is close to death, BUT as I stated it ridiculous for a Science Class to stand right by his team and ignore the chance to heal them!!
right now Im building a soldier class , so im dependent on that whole "teamwork" thing in this game to win battles and keep surviving.
It's really not asking too much for my team to play like a team , or is it?

Teamwork does not equal constant healing. If there were really teamwork going on, you could learn to adapt to a Scientist that is working offensively and know how to flank with them. Scientists can be very deadly when used by the right people, especially with their having vehicle lock-on rockets built into their jet mode; something a Soldier needs to sacrifice a weapon slot in order to use.

Sci can also go Clone with a shotgun, its amusing.

Where did I infer that I meant "constant healing"??? ANY healing from some of these jerks would be an improvement
As for the "clone" you mean disguise and yes it's very funny to jump in and attack when they think you're a friendly and move out and recharge do it again to another guy.

Some Scientists don't even use the Repair Ray. Two of my three set-ups don't even the Repair Ray in it, meaning they quite literally can't heal outside of the grenades, which are a one time use.
There's a reason we're allowed three set-ups for classes.

Like some of the above posters, I have only 1 dedicated heal build, my other scientists (and the ones I play the most) are all damage dealing, point capturing badasses. Most of the time I have more kills than the soldiers on my team.
SOLDIERS START DOING YOUR JOB AND KILL ♥♥♥♥ SO I DONT HAVE TOO!! ;)

well if it weren't so easy to kill as a scientist, then soldiers would have more to kill...

Wow thanks for sharing your worthless opinion in my thread , when you die at the feet of a guy perfectly capable of saving your worthless hide and helping your team win , you can eat those words brother ... Because it's going to happen , now go troll a new thread newbie .

Trying to heal on the pc version is pretty awful, you can't tell people to stop for a second so you can save their ♥♥♥. You end up having to transform to catch them and then usually get shot while your trying to catch up.
Honestly tho, it seems so easy to get kills with every other class. The photon rifle is dongs, and getting up close enough to use the emp shotgun is usually suicidal (haha, and the neutron? god...). I leveled my scientist to 25 then switched and found it laughably easy playing everything else.
By the way, it isn't relevant to this thread, but I thought I'd say it coz I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else - config changes aren't stored in the coalesced.ini file. If you change any settings then do a compare of the saved ini file, its a byte for byte match of the original - meaning the changes are being stored somewhere else.
I guess those are kept in one of the profile files, the registry or some other spot, haven't really gone looking after confirming my suspicions about the ini file.

I've topped scoreboards as a dedicated healer in TDM. I'd say it's pretty intense to spot someone getting pounded on and be able to swoop in and save them, turning the tide :D
But yeah it sucks that people don't slow down if they see a nearby scientist, as Icewyrm said I too often have to try and catch up, usually ending with getting caught in crossfire. Best to let them be and go help someone else.

Same here , oh look my team is all one spot across the maps and two are in serious condition, TRANSFORM ! dodge blasts from enemies , almost there whups one guy got killed , get there in time to save one teammate who then bludgeons me with a axe as a enemy recon comes out of stealth attacks and kills us both. ~ the day in the life of a medic .

I don't use heal ray, I just kill everything.
If there is nothing to shoot my teammates, no healing is needed.

I have 3 bars of health and seem to be able to pull off a 4.1+KDR with no one healing me.

Why do you suppose Scientist has the most mobility, yet the least health? What could dbe his function ? Hmmm let's think , he can move fast , he can drop heal grenades , he can use a wide range heal weapon , his normal weapon is a pea shooter (but a powerful one on slow enemies) could it be , now it's just a wild theory , could his role be battle medic ? Could that be what HIGH MOON STUDIOS intended , that this class round out the troops and protect the team when injured ?
naw they made another weak health version of snipers with healing drones and cruddy weapons , but seriously I agree you cant help ignore healing with a medic tool if you don't have one. Teamwork is a new concept to some of you folks , and you'd rather watch a fight then help in it.

I'm surprised actually how often I do get healed. I wish there was an in game chat so I could give me never ending thanks to those who heal. It is probably the lack of that why so few Scientists heal. There is no gratification if no one thanks you. So let me get out to those who can hear it now HEALERS I LOVE YOU!

Your whining gives me a headache. Maybe some of the guys LIKE playing the Scientist as an OFFENSIVE class and not a healer?
If it pisses you off so much you need to play something else or just get used to the fact that not everyone wants to play the game like you want them to.

I topped my team's bracket with a score of 15-6 using an offensive Scientist set-up last night. I am not saying that I am an excellent player by any means, but the Scientist can and is used very effectively for more offensive maneuvers. The set-up in question didn't have any sort of healing equipment apart from the default grenade.
Not all Scientists are dedicated healers; this doesn't make them worthless as back-up.

So a few questions and points.
1. In your world, is this the "proper" scientist build?
Weapons: 1 Repair Ray / 2 ??? (but irrelevant, the Repair Ray should always be used)
Abils: Sentry / ??? (but Primus forbid, not disguise)
OU: Range Finder or Repair Sentry
DU: Battle Medic or Energon Optimisation
GU: Blaster Amp. After all, another two hundred ammo for the Repair Ray is a good thing!
2. If the scientist is intended to be a pure healer, why do they have options that point to attacking builds?
3. The low health is an offset for the mobility; you may notice a more or less inverse relation across the classes:
Mobility Sci > Scout > Leader > Soldier
Health Sci < Scout < Leader < Soldier
If jets had six health, we'd be playing Robotech, not Transformers, because everyone would be using jets.
4. Slipstream does not approve of you trying to turn her into Aerith.
5. Even World of Warcraft allows priests, the iconic healers, to use an attacking build (shadow.)

I've leveled my leader and Soldier, now I will be demonstrating how I prefer to play scientists . I can still drop in SONIC BOOM , and save my teammates at the same time , as for this thread? LET IT DIE ALREADY

I've still never really healed on my scientist, but what kind of XP do you get from doing it? If it doesn't compare to 15 kills a game then I really don't see the point.
