Im at the POW mission of the russian campaign. And im getting quite fed up with the inventory system, My guys run out of ammo so quick, and i need to micro manage each soldier to get some more ammo, even tho i use "return fire" to have them not blast like crazy. When i take charge of other soldiers, they dont have ammo either, but the AI have unlimited supply and can happily suppress me until hell freeze over. Is there any way at all to automate this scavenger thing? I good old CC5, the soldiers just took whatever weapons and ammo that were close to them if they ever ran out. The rpg-isch inventory is a nice touch, but its been taken a bit too far.. Any mods or anything that can make this better? Im also guessing the AI has unlimited ammo because they probably cannot code the AI to scavenge ammo themselves.

Other than having your squad leader collect the ammo (automatically distributed between your squad) i think your stuck with the micromanagement.

I'm not a fan of it either.

i've tried the squad leader thing, but often it does not seem to work correctly. This game requires alot of patience =)

With the entire squad selected, if you click on a body/wreck only the squad leader will run to the location. You can do this to have your squad leader loot far away from the actual location of his squad.

As soon as your squad leader returns close to your squad, he'll automatically redistribute ammo in his inventory. If you look closely you'll notice his entire squad will reload their weapons as soon as he returns near to them, after scavenging.

Just take your men and collect 2000 bullets and you are good they wont run out for a while. I have only ran out of ammo once.

Aye I only run out of ammo if it starts me with very little...I generally loot as much as I can when I can. There's no hurry to beat it so go ahead and spend a few minutes looting :)

Also the SL thing works great and saves time, works with things like weapons too.

Even though I give my guys plenty of ammo in their weapons searching bodies and wreaks is part of the fun. I remember the thrill of finding a MG-42 then looking around for the former owner and taking all his mg ammo.

I hate this myself, and I recall having such issues at the same mission ha... What I hate is that it takes time, so I cannot act fast like perhaps act now and save those guys over there. Wish there was a command to indeed tell your troops to search for ammo in a certain area.

ps : Kornstalx, will try that, thanks. Didn't know he'd share.

Yeah, this is especially annoying in the parts where you commandeer an army. it's less of a hassle when you lead 1 or 2 small squads.

Exactly. It's a lot of fun when i'm leading just 1 small squad of about 4 men, and i can individually gear them. When i have a hundred men all running low on ammo, it's utterly ridiculous.

It would be nice to have some sort of logistics supply unit, so either your squad leader could call for ammo or you just set a supply point for your rearguard to transfer ammo and equipment to which you could then dip into.
I do quite enjoy the looting corpses part of the game, might find an mg! but as other people have said it's a pain when you have loads of soldiers.

Holy. Crap. If you're ever playing as the germans and a jeep gives you trouble, once you kill it, loot the gun and give it to an MG specialised unit. It's like the terminator. Only thing that can stand in this things' way is a heavily armoured car/tank.

I remember my soldiers used to loot corpses automatically when they are low on munitions, but that might be in Soldiers of WW2 instead of MoW.
