Hello,
I have some troubles with Call of Duty 1 , UO , and 4.
I can start the game , and play for about 5-30 minutes , after this the my whole pc freeze.
(yeah sometimes even an hour..)
Also i don't think its connected to my hardware , because i can play MW2 , BC2 , Crysis and other shooters maxed out with any troubles for hours ..
Here are my sys specs :
Gigabyte EP35-DS3
Intel Q6600 (no OC)
6GB DDR2 1066 - GSkill
ATI HD5830 - 10.4 driver
After a google search i only found out that there are others with the same freezing issue (HD5xx series) but so far no fix.

Also audio setting and drivers, you might check those.
Hows your PSU? enough wattage?

PSU : be quiet! Straight Power E7 CM 680W
should be enough for my components , and how mentioned other games , with higher requirements run fine.
It's only Call of Duty 1 , UO , and Modern Warfare 1
( So far WAW and MW2 run fine too)
I am updating now all my drivers (audio , chipset , lan , etc)
And give it then another try.
Edit:
I gave it another try - but so far nothing helped , my pc keeps freezing.

You have to remember that older games tend loose OS / driver support through age updates, so newer games are usually going to run better because those are the ones they cater too to sell hardware. If they happen to break a driver on a newer card or older game, they tend to not much care, they may fix it if reported enough, or may not at all if there are limitations.
I have 5-6 older games I now that I have to remember to tweak or use certain drivers with, to get them to run properly.
Btw what OS are you using?
Have you tried to "Run As Administrator" ?
Or in compatibility the modes?.
Any background tasks that might be causing it?

Btw what OS are you using?
Win 7 x64 - shouldn't be a problem for Call of Duty
(3 friends of mine using it too)
Have you tried to "Run As Administrator" ?
Or in compatibility the modes?.
Yes , tried running it with several compatibility modes , and as admin
Any background tasks that might be causing it?
No , i even deactivated Steam overlay and xfire.
and i don't use software like gamebooster - or any of such kind
Have you tried to re-update directx? Cant hurt.
Also done.
I try it now with a fresh install of my Operating System - and some older drivers.
Edit :
After a fresh install of my operating system wih older drivers it worksed.
So i tried to revert my graphics driver to an older version ( on my old windows)
With ATI catalyst 10.2 is the problem solved.
So , thanks to everyone who helped :)
