Thought I may as well make a thread about this, seeing as I didn't get any response before.

I downloaded the demo and then clicked on play, All I then get is a box saying loading turba demo which lasts for less than half a second, it then gets replaced with.. turba.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close, windows is checking for a solution to the problem.

No matter how many times I click play I get exactly the same thing happen every time. I've tried deleting the demo and redownloading the demo only to get the same thing, I've also tried running the game from the desktop shortcut only to get the same happen.

I use 64 bit windows 7 if that makes any difference.

Hardly makes me want to get the full game when I can't even run the demo without a turba.exe error message every single time!!

We got an email yesterday from someone with I think the same problem. He ended up saying that he guessed his DirectX was out of date somehow, even though he thought he was set there. Can you try updating to the latest version of DirectX 9.0?

Can you try updating to the latest version of DirectX 9.0?

I have just checked which version of DirectX I am using, I am already using DirectX version 10, so that definitely isn't the solution in my case.

Also my first post was wrong, I am using Windows Vista NOT Windows 7. not sure whether that makes any difference either way.

Would just like to be able to try the demo :(

Well the game requires DirectX 9.0c, so if you don't have the 9.0 SDK somewhere on your computer, I'm afraid it won't run. We're sort of noobs in a some ways since this is our first game, and DirectX 10 isn't supported in the game. :(

I have the same problem - tried to play demo but it wont work. I'm using Windows 7 & have DirectX 11. So does that mean I can't play it either?

Yes you will need DirectX 9.0 (which a lot of games require). However, for whatever reason I said that you would need the sdk (which is rather large) but this is not the case.

You can just use the web installer to install the files you will need, found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

It shouldn't be more than 90 mbs at most. If you would rather not dl it, then I guess you won't be trying the game :(
