I was wondering how much bigger is it? I don't mean in the location sense but the gameplay hours. How many hours does it take to complete it compared to the first game?

It's virtually impossible to judge something like that, it depends so much on how easily you get through the puzzles. I'd guess something like 50% longer if you know what you're doing but it feels like about double the amount of content. The puzzles in Monkey 2 are tougher and more oblique so it's hard to do a astraight comparison.

Yeah, 50%-100% bigger. That means 1.5-2x the amount of hours/puzzles/locations, etc.
MI2 feels much bigger because you have the freedom to go b/t a number of islands fairly early on.
Remember, locations relate to hours, the more walking, the more time you spend in the game.
The game simply 'feels' much bigger. Whether it actually is as big as it feels is a different story. No doubt it has more content though.
Honestly, if you have Monkey 1 and you even remotely liked it, get Monkey 2, it is well worth it. If you are worried it is too short to be worth the money, well w/ more puzzles and the dev. commentary, plus the ability to hear voices in the "old school" mode, makes Monkey 2 pack significantly more hours of play/replay than Monkey 1.

According to the developers it's five times the size of the first one. In terms of locations, dialogs, that sort of thing.
That being said, most adventure games are short when you know all the puzzles.

Chapter 2 is bigger than the rest of the game but it is also bigger than SoMI. The other chapters are about as long as their SoMI counterparts.
That being said I finished MI2 in about an hour on the second playthrough.

If MI2 is 5 times bigger, how come it is smaller than MI1 in file size?! MI1 is 2100 MB and MI2 is 1800 MB!

I know this game in and out, every puzzle and every line, i could write you a walkthrough out of my memory in no time, and i needed just over an hour for my "speed demon" achievement walkthrough. And this really was a speedrun, skipped everything and just klicked like a korean starcraft pro. :D
The first time through (the special edition) took me 5 hours, all i did was not to skip the dialog and the cutscenes.
If you're new to the game and don't rush it, i'd say you'll be in for at least 20 hours!

No it's not, it shipped on 11 floppies and was at least 8-9 mb.

The special edition must be better compressed, the original game came on 4 disks and the sequel 11.

Honestly no idea why it's actually smaller, not just the game but in terms of sheer amount of stuff on offer there's a lot more here. Developer commentary, concept art gallery, loads more dialogue and music (the first only had about ten tracks of music), lots more artwork... the only thing I can think of is that their compression technology is a lot better now.

While MI2 has alot more locations, SoMI had the time consuming insult swordfighting...
something that's a lot of fun the first time you play it, but becomes very anoying if you play a second time... especially if you know all the right lines but still have to learn them in the game... and all the pirates just wont give you any comebacks.

Could be compression issues, or programming efficiency tweaks, who knows. Steam itself doesn't always report accurate numbers there either.
