I get to the pre-game settings, hit start, and then I get a runtime error message saying 'abnormal program termination'. I've re-installed this game several times in hopes that it might work, but I continue to get this error. Any idea what might be causing it?

My glass ball is a bit faint today so please provide more info, like what OS you are on and are you using UAC, what hardware you are using, what driver versions, etc.

oh boy.. that bug is still around..? :P i remember it clearly. it was a problem with the game even when it was brand new.
there is a patch though, don't worry :D just go find it, and it will all be good ^^
*edit* i even keep the patch on an extra disc in the game casing, for every time i feel nostalgic :D

right...
you talking about the cd install, but we are on the steam forums...
steam version does not have the issue and does not need the 1.05 patch, it's already patched.

I really should pay more attention to the Steam forums, shouldn't I? Completely forgot I'd posted this thread (gave up temporarily and started playing other games... again).
In response to Dark: I'm running Win 7 64-bit, 4GB 1066 mHz RAM, with X-fired 3870's, updated to the most recent catalyst drivers monthly (at the time of original posting it was 10.6), on an ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe, and I'm running 2x1TB HDD in RAID 0. I have tried running in single card mode, and that did nothing different. UAC is not active on my system.
