Any in-depth technical info on these? Is the new dynamic light management similar to portal 2'7?

i was wondering about them too, like if they will be put in other valve games such as tf2.

No, there's absolutely no need for them however now that they are in the Source SDK anyone developing a Source Mod can utilize the new code where they would normally have to write it themselves. Note that these features aren't new in fact many have implemented them themselves already in other source mods. What they have just done is add it to the source engines library of features.

This is what I got from the Steam store page:
"Alien Swarm adds 3rd person camera, depth of field, improved dynamic shadows and a wide variety of gameplay additions to the Source engine." It's not very specific, though

I'm really excited about the depth of field, because it does so much that makes it different from other Source games.

There looked to be a lot more dynamic lighting. Source isn't usually good with dynamic lights so potential epic win. :D

3rd person camera is cool.
Only it's not really third person, it's top-down.

im hoping it runs on my dodgy laptop. it runs L4D1 fine, dunno about this though.
