Will the game have Dedicated servers included, or is it just matchmaking listed on the store page? D:

Probably not, it's only 4 players max anyway :P

I imagine it will be like left 4 dead.

p2p would be silly.

I hope so. ;)

I sure hope it'll have dedicated servers - or a system similar to L4D.

Me and all my friends have rather slow connections and we're spread all over europe (Germany and France, mostly) so Matchmaking is really not doing it for us...

Source has had server-client from the beginning. Matchmaking is just a Steam thing that keeps the players in the same session.

Going into P2P would probably be hard.

Why would P2P be silly? It's a 4 person co-op game. With larger 24/32 server games, they can have community servers where members of the community are willing to donate to help keep the server up. When ti comes to 4 player co-op games, the chance of you playing on the same server of 4 people anytime you launch the game is highly unlikely.

I hate how everyone thinks ALL games, regardless of how few players, MUST have Dedicated Servers. I do hope the game supports both P2P AND Dedicated Servers, but not just Dedicated servers unless Valve hosts enough of them for us to play.

I bet some of you would say "ZOMG IM NOT GOINGS TO BAI THIS 2 PLAYER CO OP GAME 'CAUSE IT DUN HAZ DEDICATED SERVERS!" (No, I'm not referring to Alien Awarm, I know it's 4 person.)

Honestly, I don't care about dedicated servers on a 4-player co-op game. I wouldn't think less of Valve if this game is P2P.

Source is terrible when it comes to p2p network negotations unlike things like live which are built specifically to do so.

EDIT: In case you don't know what I'm talking about, it means that anyone with a factory configured router will likely have problems hosting games and joining other people's home networks (p2p). Source games in particular are pretty bad for this.

If you want an example of how p2p can go very wrong for a game, you can take a gander of borderlands when it was released on PC. Nobody could join each other until a few patches later.

Have you been so scarred by MW2 that you think matchmaking == no dedicated servers..?

Matchmaking into dedicated servers is awesome, L4D sets the standard here.

L4D has terrible matchmaking -_- I always get put in servers with like 500+ ping. I have to use the server browser to find a good game.

You may want to change your download region, that could help.

Can someone from valve give us an answer to this question?

I think they might have a too obvious answer to show you. :p
