View Full Version : Valve going back to the good ol' days with this.

This reminds me of back in the HL and HL2 age when Valve made soley for the PC, and loved us like we were the only person in the world.

Now of course when the 360 came in for games like L4D and L4D2 it was kind of like our parents adopted a brother we were neutral for, and the parents had to abide to both our needs.

Now, Valve still cared for us but they also had to care for the 360 too, and abide to Microsoft's patching and DLC restrictions.

Now I love everything Valve makes, but look at this game. We have a free game that looks amazing that will most likely get supported and fixed for bugs, no charge at all.

Microsoft would never allow a free game. To make the game Valve would probably had to delay the release date. To patch the game or add new content it would take longer because Valve has to make sure Microsoft would be ok with it on the 360.

Now I don't mean to start a console war or arguement, but this just reminds me of what made me love Valve in the first place. The free content, the care for the community, and pure love for us PC guys!

There will be a day that Valve will sell this to the Xbox 360 (for a very cheap price ofcourse)... Or maybe even for free for Portal 2 users (Because of the Steam support on PS3)

But this is awesome... Amazing from Valve to support their own employee's who are making their own mods. :)

XBox Arcade?

It will probably be on that eventually. But a game like this seems to necessitate a mouse for ease. Meh, Zombie Apocalypse looks a lot like this game, and it was good on console.

There's a few. I think.

Yeah, I've seen a few free games on my 360. But the majority I've seen aren't like this game.

Well, that would be because Microsoft forces prices if games exceed file size limits. And the 2.5GB of Alien Swarm is even bigger than the allowed file size limit for XBox Live Arcade games. A game this big won't be sold on XBox Live.

Wait, I think I just confirmed this game wouldn't be free on the 360 if it was ported. It has 61 achievements.

The max a 360 game can have is 50 unless there is DLC. And to have DLC the 360 users would have to pay money because if I'm not mistaken, if achievements are added then Microsoft makes people have to pay for them.

There is free DLC on XBox for Mass Effect 2. But i don't know if they have achievements.
