I just got this game and am sucking horribly. Besdies the two bullet deaths the recoil is immense. I normally have no problem with recoil in FPS, but I'm new to the whole PC FPS thing (I'm primarily a console gamer) and can't control the rcoil in this game. On a console, you just tap the fire button, effectivly "single-shotting" the gun to keep recoil low, but in this game tapping the trigger still gives me a massive kick. So yeah....help please?

oh, and this is unrealted but to prevent making another thread does anybody know a video of people owning at this game, to see how you need to play in order to do good? All the videos on YouTube are of guys sucking.

youtube.com/fragdods will give you a whole whack of videos. You should also check ... dodmovies?

and practice holding your mouse down while you fire. Start with the thompson/mp40, move to the bar/mp44 when you're ready.

Hey Galaxy010. Were you playing COD MW2 before this game? Just asking.

Oh God, no. I hate MW2 with a burning passion. So I too use all those "go back to MW2 jokes" :)
I was a big CoD4 player, and played a fair amount of WaW and CoD2. I've also played a lot of Halo, and Battlefield (1943, BC1, BC2 mostly). I've also played a lot of other console shooters, like Gears of War, just not hardcore and often. My PC FPS experience is limited to CS:S, TF2, and UT2004, none of which I am particularly good at. Except I do play A.V.A, and am decent at that.

btw, to the guy who posted the videos, thanks, but I'm looking for something more akin to straight-up gameplay, not a montage reel. If I learned how to play CoD from montages I would be a terrible player :)

The recoil in DOD is actually insane. In most of the games you mentioned, recoil is very low but the gun literally gets less accurate as you fire.

The weapons in DOD:S have a fixed accuracy assuming you're standing still. In other words, if you could bolt the weapon to a surface the accuracy wouldn't suffer from sustained fire.

Oddly enough, DOD:S is more realistic in this way.

pull down on the mouse.

no but seriously, up your sensitivity a bit and practice, the recoil is constant, so once you find the correct speed to pull down on your mouse, you'll be able to consistently control it. you may need a bigger mousepad though :)

Just keep practicing dude :) as others have already said, u may begin with the thompson/mp40 and then try with the bar/mp44. It's not that hard to learn, i guarantee :P

Thanks so much to the guy who said spectate good players. I never thought of that and it helped a lot. The game can be played aggressivly, but also cautiously. So yeah, thanks.

just know your mouse and find a sensitivty you like. it differs from mouse to mouse. but if you dont aleady get a gaming mouse, 2000dpi ftw (or more now i guess, my mouse is old)
