Will this implement 1st Person action when you want it to be?

Not right off the bat.
You can wait for a first person mod to surface or just use third person.

There is a third person over-the-shoulder view, but that's as close as you can get.

No but I'm sure there will be a mod for it.

That's most likely only when a stim pack (adrenaline now) is used. The same effect was granted in the mod version (tiny window with over the shoulder cam).

Just wait for mods indeed. Then we can all enjoy this game at it's best. Well, I doubt first person will be better than third though..

At least it would be cool :)

No, third person and first person will be inferior, just as it was in the original. Top down IS this game at its best.

I'm not knocking anyone that wants to play third or first person. More power to you, play how you want etc...

But you should realize, as I mentioned elsewhere, if this game is ANYTHING like its predecessor it's going to be very difficult. Reducing your field of view to a single direction will potentially make a difficult game impossible.

I can't shake the feeling that people are thinking it's like l4d/2... the mod version of AS put l4d/2 expert mode to shame.

It's very possible that they toned it down a bit, since the difficulty level of the mod version was a turnoff to all but the most dedicated players... but I hope they didn't.

I think its likely that they have made the easiest difficulty easier, but the hardest difficulty, insane, is hopefully just as unforgiving as the original. Actually, I hope its even harder :)

Why do people want to play in first person? You'll be more of an annoyance to the team because you won't be able to see infront of you and behind you at all times.

i would like a first person mode

only problem is is that the models may be scaled down, you would be scalled down too, but it would make the game look mighty ugly

I hope they add a first person mode just so these people can use it once and then never use it again after realizing how impossibly silly it is to want a first person mode in this game.

I reckon spectating and seeing first person is going to look so much better, the cursor in First Person in UT2004 was always a bit stiff.

No, no it won't

If this game is like the original, it doesn't work in first or third person. We, who actually played the original, know this. Its simply to disadvantageous to only be able to see in front of you in a game like this. It doesn't work, period.

You can do it if you want, but you're team will get wiped every single time.

Hellooo, custom maps? :)

It would have to be a completely different game for first person to work.

So what you are asking for is a completely different mod, not a first person mode added on.

That was what I was thinking. I mean sure, you can have your teammates cover your back and vice-versa, but can you always rely on them?

No, which is why you should play in the top-view.

I really don't think that would work, OP. You have to consider what the button inputs actually cause the character to do, in this game. It's completely different from the input style of an FPS.

Imagine playing, say, Mario 64 in first person. It just doesn't work for all games. You can't automatically stick the camera in your character's head, and have it work well for every single game. The opposite applies, as well: you couldn't just take the camera in Counter-Strike Source, make it top-down, and expect it to play well.
