See title. I've played the crap out of Diablo II, and was wondering if this one was worth the cash.

Thanks =]

I would say... Yes, definitivly. Or let's formulate it itherwise : it's probably the hack'n'slash you can like if you love DII. I tried Sacred and Torchlight (who are both good games) but as for now the most interresting gaming experience I have is with that one. The story seems interresting, the graphics are nice, there is co-op (big problem with torchlight is that there is none... Here it's not perfect but at least there is one ;) )

According to me it can be a top-quality appetizer while waiting for Diablo III (and the universe is really nice).

Awesome. I'll probably give it a shot. Downloading the demo now =]

I love Torchlight, but I'm always looking for new stuff to check out.
Thanks, I appreciate the help

This game is breathtakingly beautiful and it has all the important elements of a good ARPG. It's linear and the world is huge so you're constantly seeing new things. I paid $50 for this and am thrilled with my purchase. My wife and I played the heck out of this.

Same with me and my girlfriend. Seems like the game is really couple-friendly :)

This game is essentially Diablo 2.5.

I am upset I didn't pick this up when it originally came out.

It takes all the "annoying" things from Diablo 2 and drops them.
- No identifying (just a pointless time sink)
- No town portal scrolls (you found enough that it was just taking up inventory
- No repairing items

Replaces those money sinks with things you WANT to spend your cash on:
- Ability to remove "gems" from your items
- Increase you stash size
- Ability to respec your skill points

And adds a bunch of enhancements:
- Side quests
- Shared stash
- Ability to make your bank bigger
- Bags to make your characters inventory larger
- Ability to trade with players directly
- Ability to inspect other players
- More class variety

And the graphics are just very nice to look at even for a 5 year old game.

But keeps all the old Hack-n-slash things we loved from Diablo and Diablo 2. Skill trees .. tons of items with random prefixes/suffixes .. set items .. rare items ... ability to farm bosses ... etc.

It seems a lot longer than Diablo 2 as well.

I was never a very big fan of Diablo II but I rate the original Diablo as one of the best games ever. I recently purchased Titan Quest during the summer sale and that is all I've been playing lately. It was the best 5 bucks I've spent in a very long time.

I liked the fact that in Diablo, every level was randomly generated. Now that isn't the case in Titan Quest so it does hamper replayability a little. But, I'm currently going through the Epic difficulty of the game and am still having a lot of fun. It's good old hack and slash and that's a good thing sometimes.

One complaint I do have is that too much loot actually falls. I used to pick up yellows but not anymore. I just loot greens, blues and violets and the game moves a lot faster. :)

I think Torchlight is a better choice for Diablo fans if you can only choose one. Then get Titan Quest.

I think it's really a matter of point of view.I'm enjoying titan quest more :)

I couldn't get into Torchlight as much after buying it thinking it would be cool. The whole single player thing is just a downer. Not being able to share equipment you find with friends and help each other out?

Plus it is really too cartoony graphics-wise for my personal taste.

Don't get me wrong, Torchlight has excellent game play and I've logged over 140 hours but it has a paper thin story (by design) and lacks the depth that Titan Quest provides.

Keep an eye out for the free-to-play Torchlight MMO that is slated to come out within the next 6-12 months.

Make sure you buy Titan Quest Gold, and just start out playing Immortal Throne. Both Vanilla TQ and TQ:IT start from the same level, but IT has all the extra goodies.

It's a fantastic game if you like Diablo II. It's also a very beautiful game.

And yes, play from Immortal Throne.

I couldn't help but to contribute a bit to this thread.

It seems that this thread suddendly transformed from a simple question asking if is it any good or not to a Torchlight vs Titan Quest thread.

To answer the question if it is any good for a Diablo fan to get this game, well, if you don't mind the lack of a good story and the horrible voice acting, then yes, get this game ASAP. Get Titan Quest Gold if you can.

Ok, now, Torchlight is a lot more similar to the Diablos (especially D1), on music, dungeons, loot, feel, everything, except for the cartoony graphics, but it still has it's good share of blood and guts. It doesn't have multiplater in any form, but I don't care, I've played a lot of Torchlight and I even consider it better than the Diablos in many, many ways. I bought it when it was discounted at $10 and even I feel that was a steal, it's simply amazing.

On the other hand, we have Titan Quest, wich I got as a free gift when I preordered Darksiders. I still haven't played through the game a lot, yet, but I can give my first impression of the first 30 minutes into the game.

My first impression (playing vanilla TQ) was a bit meh. The graphics are pretty good for an old game, it has physics, bump mapping and the textures have it's fair share of detail, definitively this is a pretty game. The models and the animations are pretty good too. BUT, on the other hand, the interface and the inventory are a bit messy compared to what I'm already used to Torchlight and the Diablos. I still haven't played the expansion, but for what I'm reading, it has a lot of improvements compared to the vanilla game. Gameplay wise, it's your standard ARPG, hacking and slashing Diablo style, I killed the first boss (a shaman satyr) and the game is a bit hard if you don't know what are you doing.

The game seems quite interesting and I will continue playing it a bit more before deciding if I like it or not, but for now, I still consider Torchlight the better game.

If you want variety all through the game choose Titan Quest, if you want the same looking 'dungeon' over and over and over then play Torchlight.

Maybe if i'd played Torchlight before TQ i would of liked it alot more, but as it is i think Titan Quest is a far superior game in everyway.

Anyway... I'm playing it now, but I started with the regular TQ. I dunno if there's any point with doing that - or if I should go straight for Immortal Throne -- Either way - I'm having tons of fun ;) I can't stop playing.

Play Immortal Throne. Ignore the original. You are missing out on loads of new features if you play the original.
