View Full Version : Can't get lighting to work?

So I'm fiddling with hammer trying to get the ins and outs and make an attempt at a map but whenever I compile (in expert mode because it doesn't work otherwise) There seems to be no lighting in the map, everything is fully lit and there are no shadows at all, really annoying. I have a single env_projectedtexture the map is surrounded by a box made from tools_nolight and named structure_seal
Any thoughts?

Compile it in advanced mode ;)

Place a single light or light_spot entity.
Even if you hide it in a sideroom or give it 0 brightness, you need a light entity for VRAD to run and compute lighting. Otherwise there are no lightmaps, and the map will be fullbright
