I'm not sure if this has been asked before or not, but has anyone found out how to create a fire barrier that's blocking a path that you have to put out?

( I've already got the fire extinguisher spawned, I just need to know if there's some trick to making fire that is able to be extinguished. )

env_fire and weapon_extinguisher (or however it's called) should just do the trick...

At least, that's what I've read in another topic.

Doesn't work, the fire simply doesn't extinguish...

I need to bump this, I can't figure it out.

Have you tried google?

Credit for kraid08 for telling me this.

The fire you need to use is simply env_fire. Place it and then go to it's properties and then click the flags tab, make sure the "infinite duration" box is ticked and your extinguisher should now work.
(I also had the start on and start full flags checked but that may not be necessary).

Yup, already asked the same.

You simply need an env_fire with "Infinite duration/start on" flags and an asw_pickup_fire_extinguisher to extinguish the fire. The game does the rest! ;)

"infinite duration"
That's counter-intuitive. I saw that and thought "that will make the fire permanent no matter what."

It just means that it will burn forever until something happens to the fire. If you look at the env_fire properties, you can see that you usually have to set a timer how long the fire will burn! ;)
