Had a quick search through forums and to my surprise didn't find anything else about this (and if there is an answer perhaps it should be stickied)

If anything, what's next for Defense Grid? More DLC maps? An expansion? A sequel?

I think most would agree that the popularity of DGTA wanes after a period beyond the release of new content. Defense Grid had a huge following among my friends for a while and then became very seldom played until Borderlands was released, after which it became rarely played again until the release of Resurgence. It would be a shame if the content of the game stopped at the end of resurgence :P
It's my hope that some of the contributions of these forums will be included in a new form of DLC, or some sort of expansion/sequel not to far down the road, maybe in the pre-christmas rush in mid-late november?

Whatever's going on, some input from the Defense Grid team would be nice :D

The devs have been talking about trying to put together some partnerships with other companies for future expansion on Hidden Path. They haven't said much else other than that, but I can guarantee theres much more on the horizon for us other than more maps. Just be patient and Hidden Path will deliver :D

The DLC is fairly new is it not? I'm new to this game having only bought it a few weeks ago. Yes I would love some more maps. Do we really need a new game? I mean a sequel?

Certainly not a redesign, but appreciably, the game does semi-rely on new content to keep interest up. Borderlands and Resurgence have upped the map count to 32 from the original 20, but one you get master strategist and the achievements for completing the new DLC, you don't have the same amount of motivation to go score-hunting, save to try and beat a load of your friends. While more maps were certainly welcome, the next update to the game, whichever form it takes, should introduce perhaps a little more than that. While there's certainly no great urgency, Resurgence has only been out a few weeks, I am of course eager to hear what's on the horizon :P

I'm eager to hear it too, though I don't anticipate knowing anytime soon. In the meantime, you should join the Wednesday Challenge. 36 hours of competition on one map/mode every week starting around noon tuesday and ending Wednesday at midnight pacific. There's glory to be had, and failing that, the winners always dish their secrets so everyone gets better along the way.

I agree. I was just thinking that new maps / DLC instead of say a Defense Grid 2 in the way to go. Unless like you hinted on there would be a new type of game play or towers etc. But could that just be introduced in DLC instead of scraping the game for a new one? I for one would welcome a new map pack every few months at the $0.99 price point.

Wonder if there will even be a wed. challenge this week?

I agree. I played this game a LOT until I finally got 100% achievements and now haven't touched it since. Doesn't help that I have a large backlog of other games to be played and picked up Borderlands (the other game) on sale this summer.

I hope for a possible Defense Grid 2 they allow user made maps.

Could all this just be handled as DLC? Do we need an entire new game with graphic/engine updates?

I believe the developers have stated that the current engine does not allow for any kind of tools for user made maps. They all have to be made "from scratch" basically.

Plus, seeing how long it takes for DLC to be released, with them having to finish and release the 360 version simultaneously, I'm not really counting on any DLC any time soon.

I see. Thanks for the info. Well I would welcome a Defense Grid 2. ;)

I would order / buy it on site.

As a fan of the game (60 hours!) I would love some more content. This was the first DLC that I didn't feel too bad buying, or cheated out of. But I said that quietly, Hidden Path.

I'd love an endless mode too, something with an exponentially increasing difficulty that eventually becomes impossible. That would give me another 60 hours gameplay right there.

That would be great! The competition would be to see which gamer can get to the highest wave.

Anyone even know if there are plans for another/final map pack?

Pah, 60 hours? 94 here. But still, I haven't really bothered playing since doing the basic modes of the Resurgence DLC, come to think of it I haven't all-golded them either, I may go back and do that.
More maps is fine, but to me, I think the best thing for HP to do is to put out another DLC not too far away, with maybe 4-8 maps as before, but with a new enemy and a new tower. There need only be one additional of each to massively up the interestingness of the game in my opinion, as long as they do something with the existing maps to incorporate the new system (Appreciably, any new aliens/towers will break the balance of the earlier levels unless they're restricted to a different mode)

I would like to see more maps or even better a map editor.
