You're petitioning the wrong company. Steam/Valve don't hold the rights to the game.

It's not like Lucasarts came to Steam wanting to sell the game and Steam said no...

Have you played KotOR II? It was not developed by Bioware, but by another company who quite frankly did a hack job on the storyline as well as the game mechanics done so beautifully by Bioware in the first game. PLaying it feels like you are beta testing a release that will never see completion - it just feels like it was never finished, especially story-wise.

If anything, petition for an update to the game for all the people who bought it already :P

Eh... Obsidian did a beautiful job with the story and it's characters. Everything else was far worse though. They introduced a heap of new gameplay features that the game was simply not balanced for. Things like being able to make god like items very early, random drops that could prevent you from ever having more then a single lightsaber and stances that just broke the game. On top of all that the AI was so incredibly frustrating. Allies would constantly do things that would get them killed and enemies utilized no kind of strategy (force users would never use force powers against you, etc). It was just a mess gameplay wise.

The reason it will never come to steam is that is has several game breaking issues that have never and will never be resolved.

TO be fair, that hasn't stopped Steam from selling Wizards of the Coast products ;)

Frankly, I can't recall any major bugs in KotOR 2. Yes, it has it's share of them, but nothing extraordinary that I can recall. My primary gripe is the weak story and the even weaker ending, but even that's not enough to keep me from playing again, from time to time.

Obsidian was doing fine. Lucas arts actually stoped them, cut their budget, and forced them to release it early.

I could get in on KOTOR2 for digital distro. I'll be honest and say I enjoyed my time when I played. But I've totally forgotten what it was about. I'd be playing it anew all over again.

KotOR 2 was a potentially wonderful game that got rushed to shelves. The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (http://www.deadlystream.com/forum/tslrcm/10-tslrcm-download.html) did a lot of great stuff to make it better, but it's incredibly hard for fans to fix a broken game.

I sign it. The new Star Wars Collection also is a total fail without Kotor2. DO NOT BUY IT.

My question is why are the screens shots for KOTOR WRONG? These screens are from KOTOR 2...

But I agree we need the game on Steam even if its not from Lucus Arts...

Are you referring to the Steam store? Those screens are all from the original KotOR.

A petition isn't going to change whether or not this game comes out on Steam.

Ummmmm... How about shipping the game with all the music mistakenly encoded in telephone-grade mono sound and incredibly crappy looking cinematic files that look like RealVideo. Both were corrected later with optional downloads (2gb for the hi-res cinematics!), but I had to find them on third-party sites and neither Lucasarts nor Obsidian fixed this in later retail versions. Much like the truncated finale of KOTOR2, neither company seemed to care. In fairness, I've seen reports it was Lucasarts which vetoed finishing the ending properly, but KOTOR2 was just a thoroughly mediocre imitation of the first game and while I've played KOTOR about 15 times, I've only finished KOTOR2 twice. I think KOTOR2 is missing from Steam simply because they don't want to put the effort in making a more stable build that's compatible with newer operating systems and won't crash every 5 minutes even on Win XP.

Suffice it to say my hopes aren't high for Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas.

I think it's cool people starting petitions, and if you think KOTOR2 is worthy of Steam, then by all means go ahead and sign the request, but I'm afraid I'm going to have decline this one myself.

I'd also call the supposed Star Wars Collection even more of a fail due to the omission of the original Battlefront, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Rebel Assualt 1 & 2, etc. Besides, shouldn't Lucasarts be *paying us* for Star Wars: Galaxies? Does anyone expect that to be still operating much longer after The Old Republic is released. It'd be better and more honest if they just renamed it the Star Wars Mixed Bag.

Isn't the reality that you're allowed 30 days of a free trial and then have to pay both for the game itself along with about $14 a month for "Station Access" to the buffet of Sony MMO games? I know of the day-to-day maintenance transfer from Lucasarts to Sony that occurred some years ago, but surely Lucasarts has and will exercise their power to pull the plug on Galaxies so as to not cannibalize subscribers from their hot, new MMO. I'm not saying Galaxies will end before or right around The Old Republic's release, but perhaps 4-6 months later is what I would guess.

I've done the trial twice, once before the big reworking of the gameplay dynamics and once after the big change, and it just never impressed me in the slightest. Plus, much like the World of Warcraft trial, you can visit big populated areas eventually, but its largely intended for you to spend a decent amount of the free play time on the instanced space station where there's perhaps 5-10 other real people with you and you run tedious errands to salvage parts and similar. I'm sure there are many worse MMOs and I've got nothing against people who enjoy Galaxies, but it's got to be apparent that now time is short for that candle's flame. How many servers are they down to at this point? I know there was a pretty big merge either earlier this year or late last year due to the dwindling population.

I also do apologize for going off-topic of the KOTOR2 petition. It's not for me, but I'm of the mind that the more the merrier for the assortment of Steam offerings.
