HUD Glitched

Okay, so I've been playing MW2 for a while, and I've noticed that my HUD is screwed up (http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/1043/codmw2m20100723145843.png). This appears regardless of resolution, it appears in safe mode, it affects the menu (but it's far more noticeable ingame).

I have verified the game cache, Steam says it's fine. I have also tried the solution of deleting config.cfg/config_mp.cfg, and these have made no difference. I even tried disabling Xfire in MW2 in case that could somehow be the cause, but the problem's still here.

Any ideas?

Okay, I've found a thread here (http://cod4boards.com/game-issues-mw2/183595-weird-hud-location.html) about the same issue, and they recommend removing:
settings_c.zip.iw4
settings_m.zip.iw4
settings_s.zip.iw4

Will let you know if it works, would be useful to know about this fix for other users with the issue.
