View Full Version : Remake L4D 1&2 campaigns
They are already designed for that type of games, so why the hell not :)

l4d/2 maps seem too open imo for AS. plus the top down view might now work all the time (with multiple stories and all).
the survival maps might work, like the Dark Carnival stage.
worth a shot i guess.

I LOVE THIS IDEA
BUT...
they are big maps, unless you want to like shorten them/make about 10+ lvls a campaign which would work i guess

you can rule out most of the L4D maps because multi-storey buildings just wouldnt work with an isometric POV like in Alien Swarm.

True, though it could be done. There are two ways, either rebuild all of the insides of buildings to make them work with the camera (make large spaces between the floors) or using Kraid's transparency technique (though this would only work for one floor).
You can set the game up so that when the marines are on the ground floor the top floor is translucent or even transparent, and you can see what the marines are doing on the bottom floor.

If your going to "remake" levels from other games, don't make carbon copies or brick by brick recreations.
Recreate the "feel" of the map and the general layout. With problems like no multi-floor buildings and no jumping, simply taking a map and porting it over should be a no go.
