OK, lets clear this up.
COD, COD 2, COD MW, COD MW were all developed by Infinity Ward
COD 3 (Console Only), COD WAW & COD BO were all developed by Treyarch
Infinity Ward essentially split up a few months back because so they say, the publisher (Activision) owes them a s*itload of royalty money and was trying to blackmail them into getting the next COD MW game finished quickly by saying that they will not get their bonuses from MW2 until MW3 is done. Its all in court at the moment

This forum says CoD... last time I check, the new game is CoD Black Ops, not Modern Warfare Black Ops.
This game belongs in a CoD forum before it belongs in a Modern Warfare forum. Let's not be ♥♥♥♥♥ babies about it. Look at the topic, and instead of spending the time to post "get outta our forum", just overlook it. End of discussion.

^^you have to realize that a cod forum is bound to be infested with babies..their pewny hearts have been shattered by MW2 and it ain't going well..
but this might persist for another 20 years so try to come back then...

Please i don't wish to see this. It is the correct forum. (or close enough)
There is no dedicated forum. (Currently)
And it is a Call of Duty Game : Non the less.
I think everyone hates having to google forums for ideas on things and walking into flaming. (It's how i found this particular one)

To be honest your forgetting an important part. Most the players whom play Call of Duty(the first one) play United Offensive as well.
CoD:UO was created by Greymatter. Greymatter later was annexed/joined/changed names to treyarch.
So treyarch has a lot more of a connection to cod 1 than you all really think.
Also this is not a mw title. It may use the same engine, but the same could be said of mw and waw.
If this forums is for Call of duty 1 then they should specify that in the title. Right now there is no cod:bo forum so many are seeing this as a cod general forum.
Btw. Be good sports, treat other call of duty players with respect. I played call of duty back in the day, before it became famous and populated with a bunch of kids, and yet I can still treat them all respectfully.

Back on topic -
I think I can take a good stab as to why they dont have it up for pre-order on Steam yet -
Remember one of the reasons people who bought MW2 on Steam got it two days after everyone else? They wanted as many retail sales as possible to go towards records and such.
Maybe this is instead of that, if they dont put the game up for pre-order on Steam until the last week or two before release then they will get a lot more retail pre-orders from people wanting to pre-order it so they can forget about it until release.
That way they get more in terms of their retail sales, and Steam buyers actually get to play on release day this time.

I bought it retail ANYWAY. Gamestop.com guarantees me I get it on the street date or I get a full refund and get to keep the game:) I preordered retail for a couple of reasons; Firstly, I have all the other CoD games retail. (Plus I have 1/UO/2/4/WaW on steam....the cod pack for 29.99 was too good to pass up). Secondly, I don't want to deal with waiting 6 days to download the game from the steam servers which will most likely be bogged to hell. I mean seriously, look what happened when L4D2's the sacrifice came out...multiply that by 150 and you have a new CoD release.

Seriously if there is no pre-loading for this game, heads will roll...

Just as a quick one for you all,
The rumour mill is flying that even if you buy it retail (for PC) all you get is an empty box and a voucher to download the game from Steam, there is going to be no hard copies of this game.
Please don't shoot me if I'm wrong but this is what I have been reading.

That would defeat the purpose of buying retail and I guarantee you it is completely false. They tried to float this rumor with MW2 as well. There WILL be a disc.

I think that's a good idea if they want to try and stop pirates, no hard copies just steam download.

lol, that's preciously why every it's encrypted and can only be unlocked via Steam.
There will be a disc with the entire installation on it just like every other Steamworks game that is sold at retail.
