turn off your freakin' mic when doing multi-player game.
Not only is it a nuisance, but on more than one occasion, the damn thing crashes on me well before we even get IN the damn game.
UPDATE: yup, I got in game, then it crashed thanks to mics.
No really, one guy said "Yahoo!" then I heard it 3 times one over the other form 3 other people who didn't turn their mic off.

Yes, because mics work best in single player modes! Did you try playing with people saying "Google" instead? That might be the issue...
I think it's funny, especially when you instigate the whole lobby into saying "echo echoooo", or hear some guys mom screaming at him :D
But, I'm sure these small things will get sorted out, till then have some fun with it. There's no point in raging ;)

you're blaming the general public for terrible coding and halfassed mp features?
Sorry, but not everybody is going to go into the game knowing that the developers are idiots and can't port a game.

I don't know what button to press to be able to use the mic? Maybe they don't know either. Is it always on like in Borderlands? or do you have to press a certain button to speak?
I had a multiplayer game and I want to tell the guy that his mic is to loud, he also uses speakers instead of headphones so sounds echo on my side.
Here is an example of that,

Skip to 5:18, static and echoing >_<

It's always on. You can give yourself a push-to-talk global key for steam in the steam settings. Settings -> Voice

The problem is not the "auto mics on", its those idiots who have no clue how to set up there mic properly.

I don't really think defaulting to auto on is a good idea. Should always be push to talk.

It's most certainly the developer's fault but the players could just mute their mic like I did. I gave up on the game because everyone was too stupid to have common decency.

Exactly my thought. If people would be less of jerkoffs, maybe multi wouldn't so bad.
