Does stuff ever respawn in this game?

Things like weeds, monsters, etc... is it worth waiting x number of days for things to respawn or once picked/killed is that it? Thanks.

From what I noticed, and Im only around 16 hrs in. After chapter 1 things respawned. Im guessing its based around chapters.

No. When you enter a new chapter some new monsters and plants are placed in the world, but the plants you've picked and the monsters you killed will be gone for good. Experience is a limited commodity in Risen, as are the important stat-boosting plants.

If you don't go around and kill everything in every chapter they'll still be waiting for you when you do find them later on.
