I looked through a few pages of posts and did not see these, so if I'm repeating a dead topic then please forgive me. Other than the suggestions already listed on these forums, I find that I am constantly wishing I could open links in new tabs inside of steam. And since Steam seems to run similarly to a web browser, it seems like this could be a fairly easy fix.

Also, I think it would be cool if we could edit the Steam Home Page. By this, I mean that when I open Steam up under my account, it would be cool if I could drag around the various boxes to suit my browsing habits. For example, everytime I open up Steam I go and look at the specials tab (shown here: http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/6801/steam1p.png). I know there is a small Specials Tab to the right, but it would be nice if I could simply drag this tab out of the box and put it right up at the top of the page, so that everytime I opened Steam, I could look right at all of the day's specials. Or, perhaps someone wanted to see more information in the community tab than just the line graph. There are lots of possibilities, and I think it could be a big plus to the platform.

Tell me what you think, and if any of this is already possible.

All good suggestions. Maybe we will see these features in the future. Steam 2011 UI?

Tabbed browsing will be in the next Steam update. You can get the client beta with it right now from Settings.

Oh, and I just thought of two more features that would be great. First, a "find" feature, where when you press ctrl+f it opens up a little Find box like in other web browsers. For example, it would be great if I could go to the Top Played Games section of the community page and hit ctrl+f and immediately see how many people are plyaing the game I'm looking for (i.e. http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/2459/steam2.png). Instead, right now, I have to scroll down and look through every game listed to find the specific one I'm looking for.

And second, a gift card option. This could be done like Amazon's option, where the gift card code is simply emailed to people. This way, Valve loses no money on producing cards or anything. It would just be nice to not have to go through paypal everytime I want something, but instead to have an iTunes-like balance.

Again, if these are rehashes of dead topics or impossible to do, sorry. I just haven't seen them on the first few pages.
