Ran into a pain in the ♥♥♥ situation with this game where certain items give +% stats which obviously boosts the stat allowing you to equip items with higher stat requirements. Depending on the order items are equipped it allows different items to be used. For example:

I have 50 STR
Equip a helmet that gives +10% STR
Now I have 55STR
Equip something else that requires 55STR and gives another 10 STR
Now I have 65STR
If I equip anything requiring 65STR I can never unequip the other stuff or the item requiring the 65STR turns red.

I accidentally unequipped a ring and every piece of my gear turned red and "unequipped" even though it was still present on my character status screen. I thought games like this had a mechanic that would prevent this kind of stat issue, at least a warning would be nice. I know this game is dated but maybe this will prevent someone else from having a WTF moment like I did.

This is one reason I'm a fan of systems where pre-requisite stats are determined by the base value, not the modified value. The other reason is that it makes it much easier to predict what you can or cannot equip in advance.

Once you're aware of it, sure. Doesn't make my list of good game mechanics in any shape or form though.

Definitly not a great game mechanic that's why I always keep a ring of +X stats with me incase lol.
