Hi, I recently got Dead Space, and I meet the reccommended system requirements too.

GPU: Nvidia Geforce 8800GT
RAM: 2.5GB
CPU: P4 3.4GHz--- yes I know its old but it meets the min requirements
OS: Windows XP SP3

I know my PC's specs are the not problem because when I ran the game on max resolution and highest video settings, and then ran it on the lowest resolution and lowest video settings, I notice no difference in performance.

The game seems to run at 5-10FPS max and the sound also lags like hell, even the menu screen lags.

For example, a person will talk and it would sound like this: "He he hel hell hello hello hello hello, ho how how how how ar are are are are yo you you you you"

The audio seems to lag and or repeat worse than the video.

I can't for the life of me figure out whats wrong as I can run higher end games just fine like Napoleon Total War, UT3 and L4D2 on high no problem with high FPS though Napoleon Total War is slightly worse than the other games.

I added the game to my firewall exception, tried disabling all non-Windows processes and startup programs to see if some process is interfering with the game, I ran registry mechanic and CCleaner, uninstalled and reinstalled my video card drivers and reinstalled the game multiple times with zero difference in performance.

I also disabled v-sync but that only seemed to improve the menu speed.

If anyone can help me out, I'd be in your debt, I'm lost and all out of ideas, I leave it to you to help me otherwise it looks like I cant play this game...

Verify the integrity of the game, if that doesn't fix it. Reinstall it.

I did still no luck... it looks like my only hope is to reformat my HD and I really dont plan on doing that anytime soon... this sucks....

This game runs fine on my lame laptop even but not my gaming rig...

Are all your drivers up to date?

Yes yes... I said in my OP, I even removed all my nvidia drivers and reinstalled in from scratch via add/remove programs, my other PC games run just fine...

Yes I know, but what about your other drivers? What sound card do you have? Is it onboard? Chipset drivers up to date? What about your Bios?

Could you tell us exactly what motherboard you have?
