Has any one been able to get Chaos Theory running on Win7 64. I have a retail version that simply won't run. gives me some stipid error.

This app can be launched with a release version of Miscrosoft(yes it's misspelled,lol)Windows 95 OSR2.1/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003 only

It never asks for the CD key either to do the CD check. I have the latest versions of garbage DRM: Tages, Starforce, & Securom installed already.

I wouldn't mind buying it again on Steam if that version works on Win7 64. Still it would be nice to get the copy I already own working.

The retail version will *NOT* work on an x64 OS. It's due to Starforce. Your only options are to "modify" the game (do I need to explain further?), or to purchase a digital download version like from D2D or Steam. However, I should warn you that I had significant issues with texture problems when I got it from D2D. My Steam version works without issue.

I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person that ever checks the Publisher/Developer threads, lol

So Starforce is the reason? Humm on other Starforce games I have, I just had to uninstall the old version and then install the new version and they worked no problem. Wonder why it doesn't for this game?

So you are confirming that the Steam version DOES run on Win7 64?

PS: Yah I don't fool with the "other methods" not that I have a problem with the concept if I own the game but I worry about what extras might be in there.

It's because Ubisoft never bothered to update the version of Starforce in the Chaos Theory executable, so it's not compatible with x64. I ran into this problem when I first switched to XP Pro x64 RC 2, back in the day. I begged and pleaded, whined and moaned on Ubisoft's forums and support section for them to release an update, but they didn't care. However, the digital download versions do not include Starforce, so no compatibility issues.

I can play it on my old P4 but I'm letting my son use that so it's not really available except when he visits his mom. I don't think that will be happening too often when he turns 18 in 3 weeks and isn't required to go.;)
