So I'm sure this has been covered, but I'm not exactly sure. I can't even get the game to launch. I get the launching box but then it goes away and nothing happens. What do I have to do to fix this on the Steam version?

I-7 920 3.8ghz
ATI 5870 10.6 drivers
Win7 64

I am trying to do the fix, but I can't find the file to run it as administrator

Ok found the files, I can run the configurator and the patcher, but the program is still a no go. Pops up a window that says program wants to make changes to this computer I click allow but nothing happens.

i was able to get it running on win 7 32bit, but had constant crashes on cutscene movies.

found a fix that solved most of the stability issues..

navigate to the games directory, example.. C/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/common/swkotor

once there find the exicutible
left click it,properties
compatibility tab
check the following boxes...

disable visual themes
disable desktop composition
disable display scaling on high DPI settings
----
privledge level
check the "run as administrator" box

if you still have problems you could also try to run it in XP compatibility mode from the same tab, i didnt have to.

that got rid of the constant crashing for me, hope it works.
also if you do get it running, and you download and install mods to the override folder, there are a couple points in the game where having mods installed will prevent cutscenes from running resulting in a crash. just copy them out of override folder to a temp folder, get through that cutscene, save, and put them back lol.

sorry for the double post, stayed up all night and didnt read your second post. your having issues with windows UAC (user accounts control). UAC has kept many programs from installing and running on my computer so i disabled it completely and gave full permissions to my "profile". disabling UAC is an ordeal, if you want to free yourself from that garbage i suggest googling for a guide, i could post it but it would be a wall of text.

even after you get rid of UAC you should still follow the fix i posted above to avoid constant crashes though.
