View Full Version : Problems starting original Mafia

Whenever I start up the original Mafia, it freezes on a black screen and just never does anything. Sometimes the first logo will appear, but then it freezes on black again after the Bink logo plays.

I've managed to get it playing once, but I have no idea how. I opened up the task manager and just before I ended the process I heard the sound effects of the game running and when I reopened it it was working and allowed me to play it.

I've tried that again and it doesn't work now. Any solutions?

I'm running the game on a machine with Windows 7 64bit, AMD 3.0 ghz Quad core, and a Radeon HD 4850.

Is the windows fully updated? I have it running on windows 7 32-bit, Intel Core2Quad Q8200, 4 gigs of ram and radeon hd4870 without any problem.

You could try to set the compatibility mode to windows xp.

no problems here, windows 7 64 bit (i don't recommend 32 bit version with 4gb of ram...)

There is no problem with 32-bit windows and 4 gigs of ram.Windows can only see a bit more that 3 gigs, but its not such a big problem.There is more to 64-bit windows than memory management, and i don't want to switch to 64-bit for now.

A friend of mine had this issue, so far, he updated the game with the patch to v1.2 and had no choice but to use the NO-CD Crack.

A solution BY STEAM would be nice.

I used de No-CD and the game runs now :) Thanks a lot :)

But a STEAM oficial solution will be nice :)

Having this same problem. It would be nice not to have to mess with the no-cd crack since I downloaded it from Steam and don't have a CD to begin with.
