Hello there,
building a new PC, hoping to run TF2 at 75+ FPS on 32man servers (just to show off, I don't actually play on those) while everybody is fighting.

I'm building my comp to be exactly like a friend of mine's, because he runs TF2 (capped at 75FPS) all the time, no matter what.

He's got two GeForce 250GTS, with SLi technology, but I'm asking, cause another friend of mine told me that the memory bandwith of the 250GTS is very bad, that I should get the ATI HD 5870.

Now, I'm wondering if the ATi HD 5870 is better than two GeForce 250GTS, because the price is twice as much.

I'm also looking forward to playing some of these new games, not just TF2.

Cheers, and thanks!

Umm what are the full specs of his computer. Sounds like his is ~2 years old from the dual 250s. Definitely get a faster single GPU. Less energy, faster, no sli-BS like microstutter, driver issues, game-dependant scaling, etc, DX11 support.

No brainer IMO, but I would definitely check the rest of his system as I imagine it's based on old tech. and therefore a bad buy.

Also, 32 player performance in TF2 is a CPU limited item.

hd5870 will do nice but if ya want to save a lil 5850 will do the job evan a hd 4870 will get 100+FPS max aa/af aaa on quality @1920x1080

That's a very budget resolution.

I'd get a GTX 460 and a new monitor. 230+280=510$.

If you'd rather keep your current one just grab a 5770 for 140$.
