View Full Version : Your favourite class?

I'm just curious to hear which class or classes people are having the most fun with, or enjoy playing for other reasons?
I've been reading the GameFAQs boards for the 360 version of the game, and it sounds like the Assassin might be the most powerful (perhaps even overpowered to the point of being broken against the AI?).
I've been trying out all four, though only to between level 6-10 so far. My current favourite pick is the templar for his strong defensive capabilities (though I've still lost a few battles due to bad luck or poor mana management).
I like the sorcerer as well. Can't stand up to much of a beating, but if you manage to get Flame Blade or Flame Bolts lined up properly, you can dish out some pretty heavy damage.

Imo assasin and barbarian are the fun ones. Both use spells and melee weapons in balance to deal their damage.

I like the assassin because they can deal insane amounts of damage with their daggers and spells. A good poison dagger deals crazy damage over time. Their attack spells are doubled in damage when you have stealth/mana shield on. Also, their attack spells create mass purple gems which in return recharge your mana shield meaning you are protected from any damage. Their pressure point spell is crazy too. It can take an enemy's defense to zero and reduce the amount of damage they do with skulls.

Only tested Assassin and templar.
Assassin is Overpowered . Still my favorite.
Templar requires much more thought , too slow for my taste.

yeah with Assassin even at my low level, I can cast spells for 40+ damage. Disarm & Stealth each double the damage of your strike spells. With both of them active, your strike spells do quadruple damage!

I thought disarm only doubles weapon attacks and stealth doubles spell attacks. I stopped using disarm because it doesn't seem like it works when the enemy is poisoned.

Assasins Disarm and Stealth both double the damage of Strike attacks.
Strike attacks are the ones that change Yellow,Red or Green Mana bubbles into purple ones.Their name are Swift Strike , Burning Strike and Stone Strike.Blackjack skill also doubles the attack power so you can deal around 100 damage with all 3 active and then using an Strike spell

I've only tried the assassin so far. I was thinking it was overpowered before. Now reading this thread I realize I can stack disarm and blackjack on top of stealth- that's just sick.

Yea... I am disappointed I picked assassin now. The game is incredibly easy even on hard... I win so many battles with barely a scratch. Think I might start over with a new class.

My experience with assassin and sorcerer so far - only played both to level 8 - is that I ever get my ♥♥♥ kicked because I get extremely unlucky with the mana colors and my defense sucks, or things go more or less according to plan and I quickly decimate the opponent with a few very heavy hits.
My favourite class to play is still the templar (currently at level 12). His survivability is great, but I really feel like I have to use all the tools at my disposal multiple times in a battle in order to wither down the opponent, and so far I like that play style.
I haven't been experimenting further with the barbarian yet (level 6 or 7 at the moment).
Whatever the class I'm still scratching my head wondering how some people claim to have finished the game (360 version) and only having died a handful of times along the way. It seems to me that the (un)luck of the draw should pretty much guarantee you run into a battle now and then, that's nearly impossible to win?
Or maybe they are just much better than me at analyzing the board so they can predict the next several moves and how the gem chains will fall when they make a match? I'm sure I wouldn't win any chess tournaments either :).

Yeah, assassin is OP. You can also stack 2 different poisons. I use backstab to apply the Wyvern poision, 112 damage over 8 turns, then stack that with the Manticore poision, 72 damage over 8 turns. Then break some skulls or use some strikes. I haven't lost a fight since teh skullbreaker.

Assassin can also get very high defense. My level 35 assassin has 75 defense without trying, I'm sure I could get to 100+ if I focused on defense.

just playing Templar
Seems really sturdy, almost to the point of too much. Level 15 now and not even been close to death. The only fight I didn't win was the Yeti, and I just left cause it might have gone on forever with both of us doing no effective damage to the other.
Really like templar against guys with high defense, since counterattack can't be blocked. I usually just line up skulls and let them kill themselves slowly.

I even killed the green dragon under lvl 30. I didn't have the wyvern poison, bus still was doing 15 damage a turn.
Backstab comes quit in handy. You don't need action points to attack. So you can kill the iron golem in only a few turns instead of trying to get 999 actionpoints
