Specs:
Windows 7 64bit
4gb Ram ddr3
jamp.exe and jasp.exe running in Administrator mode.
catalyst drivers 10.4
HD5750 XFX ATI vid card
atioglxx.dll fix in gamedata folder

Problem:
When I launch Single Player or Multiplayer it hangs at the launcher window that pops up at the very beginning, and then goes into the "Jedi Knight Academy" Splash Screen, and freezes at this point. I am unable to get to the play game screen that is after the splash screen.

testing:
I have done a game cache integrity check via steam. it found 4 files that needed to be reDLd from steam. I have ran integrity check before with this same problem and it had detected only 3 files that needed to be reDLd which i promptly fixed.

This problem seems almost random. I am able to get in at times. but mostly not. I can tell i wont get in when the launcher hangs before going into the game.

i created a backup of jka through steam.
then deleted local game content also through steam.
restarted my computer.
reinstalled from backup.
it works again but the problem remains

Update.
I reinstalled and it hanged again. this time i left it froze at splash screen and waited in the next room while watching tv to see if it would unfreeze. It succeeded in getting past the splash screen. less then 30 minutes, but it still took awhile for it to load.

anyone with jka hanging at splash screen. just leave it alone, for about 5-30 minutes and it should unfreeze, if not, i dont know what to tell you. ive run this problem past some coders that mod for jka and they've done everything in their power to solve the problem. waiting seems to be the answer in this case.

Symptoms sound like it could be a failing hard drive.

i doubt its a harddrive issue. i know the audible symptoms of a failing harddrive and im not hearing them.

if it was a failing hard drive wouldn't this be occuring with multiple games? it's not like hardware failure decides to only affect 1 game.

i let it sit forf about 30 minutes no results
