Hey, is it possible to use the mic on this headset on a iMac through either a OSX or a Windows 7 partition?

This pertains to older macs but they might have been looking at it:

"Q: I am thinking of puchasing Ear Force X1 wired headphones. I was wondering
if the headphones are compatible with MAC G5 computers.

A: The headphones can be used for any personal computer's analog stereo line
out and microphone connections. However, you may need to get an adapter
to mate the Mac's line out and mic connectors with those of the X1
headphones. Just connect the Green jack to the speaker out jack on the
Mac and the Pink jack to the Mic in on the Mac. Connect the USB to a USB
port on the mac. The USB is just used to power the headset. Please note that
some Macs only have a Line In."

Thank you for your help. That is strange, my imac is only about a year old. I plug the X1's pink plug into the jack. Tech support has said they can only assume imac's don't have standard jacks for microphones. Weird. I'll keep researching.
