I know this is a feature (the ability to compare and race against player times), but how do I switch it off?

With the keyboard/mouse, I have no idea what to push, but with the 360 controller I eventually figured out that it was up on the d-pad, if I'm remembering right. There's just one button the cycles through different display modes for the street signs and crap like that, including turning it back off.

Num Pad 8 is the default key for this.
