I was astonished when I tried to play this on a PC and the control prompts were for a console controller! So I looked at the PC manual, and even its instructions were for a Xbox 360 controller. I do not have an Xbox nor do I feel like spending 60 dollars on a controller so I can play a 30-dollar game.

I know the game instructions include keyboard equivalents under options, but even just navigating through menus is a headache with the keyboard. letting alone trying to figure out how to make gestures for pitching, etc.

Does anyone play this game with a keyboard / mouse? Is there a reference out there that can make such gameplay easier?

go into settings and you can find the controls. if you still with the game BUY a microsoft xbox 360 controler. i found one for 20 bucks.

When this game is released in February the PC people usually end up paying about $30.00 for the game compared to those with consoles, xbox 360, etc. who pay the full $50 - $60.

The reason is because the controls are slightly FUBAR for the PC.

I figured them out since 2K9 and there have been little changes each year since. Once you figure them out for the PC you can pretty well remember how they work. I find myself fairly keyboard illiterate and to me it is very hard.

Still in each game for the PC, 2k9, 2k10, 2k11, there is at least one thing you can not do because the keyboard will either not take your key binds, or it will not read what is already under the controls key.

Power hitting works surprisingly once you figure out the trick with the 2 keypad and the 8 keypad.

I am still not sure why it is set up that way, but there it is. Maybe in one of the upcoming ones they will have something figured out.

Microsoft has announced that XBox 360 games will be supported with Windows 8, using the Windows Live Marketplace system. It will be a subscribed account as it is with XBox Live so it looks like 360 controllers will be a "have-to-have" peripheral.
Personally I can't stand the controller and this thread has just forewarned me not to touch this game. I play every other sports game with a Microsoft Gamepad and that should be sufficient.
