View Full Version : Bug? Why can I "fix" Walnuts, Talnuts and Pumpkins but NOT Garlic?

The GotY upgrade made me play the game again ... despite the newly introduced bugs, it's still highly enjoyable. But I'm hoping there will be a another update cleaning up this mess soon.

But one thing that always bothered me is this:

If can I fix Walnuts and Talnuts and Pumpkins by simply planting a new one over them, why can't I do the same with Garlic?

I always thought of this as some kind of oversight, a bug ... and since Popcap isn't exactly known for patches, updates or a lot of post release love for their titles*, that was always a good explanation for me. (*with this update and the few Peggle Nights Bonus levels being the rare exception)

So I guess it boils down to this simple question:

Is this some odd kind of conscious gameplay element, or is this a bug that we may finally see fixed if we report it before the next, now desperately needed for various reasons, update?

Well, the ability to plant over walls & pumpkins comes from the "Wall-Nut First Aid" upgrade that you have to purchase, so I'm surprised it even works for pumpkins. I imagine this is just a "tough, deal with it, we're not making EVERYTHING easy" part of the game mechanism. I mean, you can't plant over your pea shooters and whatnot.

Wow, I must have purchased that so long ago, that I have forgotten all about it ... still, in the end it feels more tedious than challenging to not be able to fix garlic.

Unlike Pea Shooters they are meant to be eaten and show their health status visibly, pretty much just like Talnuts, Walnuts and Pumpkins.

That was already asked months ago and would really be a good thing to patch into the game but it just is not meant to be in there until now so I guess it never will.

Because garlics are not a method of defence, like the nuts and pumpkins

that's just not true.

The GotY upgrade made me play the game again ... despite the newly introduced bugsWait, what? Unless you're referring to issues with switching between Mac and PC with Steam Cloud saves, what new bugs are there (and even if you are talking about that, you said "bugs", as-in plural, and the Mac/PC thing is just one bug)?

that's just not true.Well, think about it. Aside from the brief second that the zombie eats and revolts at the garlic, the garlic doesn't slow them down at all. The Garlic is just way to funnel the zombies into specific aisles, thus it's more of an offensive tool by derailing the zombies into the line of fire (which is assumably a very focused line of fire if you're dealing in a tactic that requires re-routing zombies).
