Click Start/Run and enter ..

"C:\Users\<your user account>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\58410a6d\Co ntent\Setup.exe" /selflaunch /f "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down"

no gap between the 4 and 1 though

I can't patch my game. The normal installation will instantly terminate with an error.

Doing what you wrote with the _correct_ game path will patch the game and terminate with a success. BUT as you start it, it will ask you to patch the game again.

Download games for Windows live manually and it should work fine.

nope it still give sdame error for me as well and i have tried it a few times.

this is what the file says after i have found it.
Launching Title Update: C:\Users\SCAVENGER1\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\ Updates\58410a6d\Content\Setup.exe /selflaunch /p f88
Could not get ARPINSTALLLOCATION property from MSI with product code {********-****-****-****-************}. This property must have been set using a custom action. HR:0x00000000
Could not find game install folder
To manually set folder, run: "C:\Users\SCAVENGER1\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\ Updates\58410a6d\Content\Setup.exe" /f "<path to game folder>"

so far no matter what i try either by in game launch method or by the actual update exe it say the same thing " could not find the folder for the game" basically.

maybe since i am on a 64bit OS may have something to do with it or maybe not since my steam and games are installed in the "C:\Program Files (x86)" folder so it looks like winblows live needs to be fixs or steam needs to fix cause this sucks !!

isnt there another way of down loading the patch?

this is what the error looks like right after i click on the exe

 Hey the game worked fine till the update now it don't. This isn't the fist game that a update managed to screw up. Now the question is how long before they unscrew it.

Your trying to install it manually using Blacklight? You didn't go here and download it seperatly and try it?
http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/index.aspx

I'll dive onto the game in a sec and see if it logs me in.

Give me a few minutes, as I quickly editted in another post it seems a global problem and although I don't work for any devs, I'm sure they are looking into it.

For now though, see if this works for downloading live seperatly

http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/live/pages/livemarketplace.aspx

It seems its a microsoft issue though.

Got the same problem and when I use the manual Run option it gives me a "Can't find vtt.dll" error or something and when I try to run the game again, same update wants to be installed.

I just got it to work, I'm guessing no one else has yet since I found like 3 people in game X_X. Its a pain because GFWL deletes the patch data after it fails I think, so I had to tab out while its updating...

Easiest way "if it works" is first to just right click on your desk top, go New -> Shortcut, and paste
"C:\Documents and Settings\(your comp name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\58410a6d\Content\setu p.exe" /f "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down"
when the box pops up, putting your comp name in the parentheses of course X_X

Do it RIGHT NOW, it takes 2 seconds and might fix it.
...if you don't know what your comp name is, look top of start menu or something

if that doesn't work...

step 1: Go to your docs (not through "my docs" shortcut, but through C:\Documents and Settings\((your comp name))\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\XLive\Updates ... it was labeled 58410a6d for me. just copy the whole folder and put it on your desktop so you dont have to search for the damn thing again.

step 2: Then just right click "setup.exe" in "content" and create a shortcut to it in the same folder or wherever you want to put it. Right click the shortcut, go to target, and paste this on the end after everything

/f "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down"

it will work if you have steam stuff installed to the default folder, if not, same rules, figure it out.

then just run the shortcut.

well it doesnt work for me but this is where my steam is at since i have a 64bit OS

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down

but i will wait for the official patch to come out for steam since there work around is hit and miss

I tried doing that (I saw it in the BLTD forums), and the updating works fine, however I get a "nvtt.dll is missing" error when the updating is done (a file which, by the way, I have), plus a new folder called "program" with some BLTD files in it (probably the update) is created in my "\C:"..
Which leads me to believe that the command line is somehow wrong because of the space between "Program" and "Files"...however "ProgramFiles" did not work either..
Halp.

well after reading and rereading the sticky here on how to do it and figuring how to make it work with my set up. since i have Win7 ultimate 64bit. and so many other here are on a 32bit OS unlike me i got the patch to install this afternoon and now i can play once again woot !!

this is what i had to put in my target area
C:\Users\(your comp name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\58410a 6d\Content\setup.exe /f "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down"

what i miss the 1st time when i tried it was the bloody quotes "" lol i guess i didnt catch it the 1st read threw but now i can play which is good.

What you said work, but I had to rewrite the path to:
C:\Users\(your comp name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\58410a 6d\Content\setup.exe /f "D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down"

My Steam was in my D drive so... I had a custom path but the following should work for anybody else:
C:\Users\(your comp name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\58410a 6d\Content\setup.exe /f "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down"

The "fix" is working if you write it with the "". That doesnt make any sense

Without the "" the program finds the game and patch it (so it is able to interpretate the path correctly), but it is unable to start it rofl.

The fix works now, but I can guarantee that it didn't work yesterday (and yes, I did EXACTLY the same thing), so they basically appied a mini-patch or something.

GFWL strikes again.

After finding the failed update log which, like all GFWL stuff, is buried under 7-8 levels of folders (why can't Microsoft at least put this somewhere easy to find?) found the instruction: run "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Up dates\58410a6d\Content\Setup.exe" /f "<path to game folder>"

Rather than mess around with command lines (with associated risks of typos etc), simply created a shortcut to the aforementioned Setup.exe. Then edited the shortcut path ('Target') by adding /f "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklight tango down" (the path to blacklight may vary for different people obviously). Ran the shortcut and the update finally completed OK.

Am still baffled as to why they couldn't just get the program path right themselves (mine was actually the default path for Win7 64bit). Wouldn't be so bad if you weren't required to be logged into GFWL to play the game at all (so no update = no play).
