Horrible Lag

Hey i just got CoD2 cause i heard how good it was. but anytime i try to play mp, no matter what server im in i always have horrible lag, when i look at objectives/scores/pings my ping always starts out at around 250 and at some point it freezes for a few seconds and then changes scenes, and freezes again. then when i look at my ping again, IT IS AT 999 :eek:. I have no idea why, can anyone help?

You need to ensure nothing else is using your network. No downloads, etc.
Then you need to consider where the server is. The further away it is, the higher your ping. Chances are it could be a server issue, unless this happens with every game

yes it happens with every game, i look in the list of games for the lowest possible ping and it says it is around 39-56 i join one and the same thing happens
