I've been having a strange bug that I can't resolve. The screen sort of...well, it's strange. It's easier to show than describe.

For the first three images, keep in mind that it's a total screen capture. The game screen is shoved into a tiny corner of the monitor, and although I can see more in the actual game, it's still acting strange.
I've removed and reinstalled the game, and done the same to steam, with no avail. I tried resizing the game through the options menu, but that doesn't work either. The strangest part is that the game was fine when I last played it several months ago.
This is probably caused somehow by your videocard driver. What hardware are you playing on, and what is your monitor's native resolution?
If you haven't already, try one of the resolution patchers for Bloodlines and try to set the game to your monitor's native resolution.

I didn't try the patcher. Thanks, I didn't know about it before. I'll see if it works.
As for the video card, it's an Intel X3100 (it's integrated, as I'm playing on a laptop, if that has any significance). The resolution is 1400x1050.

That could be a big chunk of the problem, right there. Intel graphics are not built for gaming.

That's an old and obsolete statement. Checkout the GPU performance of the new Sandy Bridge CPU and be amazed....

First, I apologize if I derailed the conversation. That was not my intent. I was attempting to help by pointing out the possible issues with using that GPU to play games. Having said that, I do want to reply to this.

We're not talking upcoming technologies (not to mention, that you're comparing apples and oranges), we're talking about the X3100 listed above. And frankly, that graphics chip was subpar even at release, according to this review from 2007.

I haven't looked into Sandy Bridge, but that's irrelevant to the current discussion. It's more appropriate to compare that to the upcoming "Bobcat" APU's from AMD.

I'm not disagreeing that my video card is bad, but this game worked before on this same computer. So, I don't think it's a problem with the chip itself. (That said, I don't know what changed on my computer since I last tried the game.)

We're also talking about an ancient game. The GPU can run the game decently (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVfDP9fnaGo). That said, performance of Bloodlines is always subpar to what it should be (bad coding).
The drivers of the x3100 were subpar on release. The VBIOS editing of many companies doesn't make the x3100 happy. Using Aero also tends to messup with the game.

Okay, I used the resolution patcher. However, it doesn't seem to work. Whenever it is used for a resolution size, it doesn't appear in game, and I can only use the defaults.
It's kind of playable now since I can change the resolution to a higher one (I couldn't before), but the health and blood are still away from the sides.

I just started the game and it works now, for some reason. I didn't change anything since the last time I played, but I'm not going to complain. Thanks for the help.

I love how I was like that looks normal on the game screen, J.C. I must be getting used to it, it tottaly sucks with your menu's all mental and the blood bar blocking your sight @ times. did you have the problem were the in-game menu was at the side but the things still thought they were in the same place, so its a trial and error trying to hit save game, reload, main menu ect then if you get them you cant hit the [ok] button.
oh well hope mine fixes its self too

I'd hate to dig up an old thread, but the problem is happening again, and like the last time, it was working fine until now, and it's the same computer too. It's been over a year since I last saw this, so I thought I saw the end of it ages ago, but apparently not. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry for the double post, but just like last time, it fixed itself somehow. Sorry for bumping a thread for no reason.
