Running Windows 7
After about a minute of running the application, I get
"BS1DC.exe Has Stopped Working"
and the game crashes.
I've tried running in several compatibility modes, with no success. Does anyone else have this issue and have gotten it to run?
Thanks

Update:
Installed again, restarted after installing, and killed a bunch of background apps and anti-virus before retrying. Worked this time.
Unsure if it was from the reboot and reinstall, or if it didn't like something in the background.

Well, if you restarted and then had to kill a bunch of background applications to get it up and running I would seriously examine what kind of programs those are and if they are really needed ;)
Laptops, in particular, tend to come bundled with a variety of software that's not really needed or they wish you to upgrade at some point. I fixed a friends computer the other day, and the length of the tray icons were almost half the screen. Needless to say I removed quite a few he really did not need ;)

To try pinpoint what exactly is causing the issue you can run compmgmt.msc, go to Event Viewer, click on the [+] next to Error, go to Event ID 1000 and/or 1002, it should say wich has information the Last Hour, locate the error message regarding BS1DC.exe and check for Faulting module name. That will typically point you towards what is having issues. Google the .dll file and it can give you clues like being related to Audio, and often perhaps fixes you can do if you search "<name of>.dll game crash".

Tried to run it again today without closing background apps and services and still crashed. When to the event viewer and this is what it logs:
Faulting application name: bs1dc.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4c72b1ef
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16559, time stamp: 0x4ba9b29c
Exception code: 0xc00000fd
Fault offset: 0x0002e96a
Faulting process id: 0xed4
Faulting application start time: 0x01cb4b239abbca80
Faulting application path: c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\broken sword shadow of the templars\bs1dc.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll
I forgot to mention I'm running 64bit Win 7, and the error seems to reference the ntdll.dll file in SysWOW64, not in System32 as it does on x86 systems.
I'm going to try to kill some background services sequentially and see if I can't pinpoint what the issue is.
@xiriod:
I keep a close eye on what I run on my computer. I can assure you it is nothing like spyware, bloatware, or malware. I custom build my machines so they don't come pre-loaded with OEM crap.
