View Full Version : Lack of Campaign mission?

As I went to the Singleplayer menu, I noticed that there was only one Campaign available which was named "Tutorial". Since I had played Age of Empires, I figured this game would be a cinch to learn.
After completing the Tutorial, I found to my surprise that nothing had been unlocked. The only available thing for me to play was the Tutorial. :p
Is it the same for you guys as well?

Seems to be the case. Let's at least hope it's patched in. Very misleading though. We got the game, it's expansion add-ons, minus all the campaigns for it.

Really? That's quite misleading information on the game if it's true. I hope the devs will do something about it. Good thing I didn't buy the game yet.

There is Random map? Or that missing to? Well, it's good I don't buy yet. I hope they fix this issues, cause I long time wan this game. :) I just played the demos on random map, and I love it! This edition perfect to me.

The campaigns are in the other expansion called Cossacks - Art of War (but this one isnt a Stand-Alone-Game, you need Cossacks - European Wars too). Back to War is for Multiplayer or Random Map :D.

I hope Steam starts selling the full Cossacks series so we can all enjoy this great games. As for this game, like some people already said, it's only for skirmishes.

Actually it says Back To War is European Wars and Art of War combined in one, which is Back to war.

Oh my mistake, I read the description again and now I see it,you are right it's really misleading. What do they mean with "gameplay features"? Just the core of the game or like you said both games combined? Damn I dont know. Steam should correct this.

You're not the first to be fooled by the vague and potentially misleading description referring to those "gameplay features". See http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1422590&page=2&highlight=cossacks

We'll fix that misleading description. Sorry. This addon is primarily for skirmish with A.I. and multiplayer. Also there are a lot of single missions.

Awwwwww. :(
Still, great game though. Was really looking forward to the Campaign when I got this through Steam. Hopefully they'll release a full version or something. As for the other modes, yes there is a Random game, and yes there is like 6-10 Single Missions, but really, the Campaign was what I was anticipating and salivating about while waiting 20 minutes for this game to be downloaded.

If it helps, I have finished the last tutorial mission before checking scenarios, dunno if it has any effect on it. But I just checked just to make sure, there really is about 100 scenarios to play in my game.

Why in the holy world of ♥♥♥♥ would you not put in the campaigns?!
I was so happy when I saw this on steam (because Cossacks EW isnt sold anymore here and its hard to make it run from a PCGameMagazine) and immediatly bought it, only to find out that the complete game is here, with all the upgrades but NO CAMPAIGNS?
I bought this game only for the campaigns, and maybe I should've read some reviews but already the description stated that it would be Cossacks EW plus its addons combined.
Why do you Add 2000 new single missions but couldnt just copy paste the missions in, this really baffles me.

We plan to release campaigns pack from "European Wars" and "The Art Of War" soon. This is a good news. :) It will costs a little. This is a bad one. :(

Wow, this is terrific news!!! Totally going to get the campaign pack, still remember how much fun I had completing those back in European Wars time.
Anything on the American Conquest series? Also, are you planning any new games for 2011 to continue Cossacks or AC? I am enjoying old games, but I'd love something new with the same qualities (just with better graphics and full Steam support).

Come on, how long can it take to just put in the missions? Although its a complete crime that you will charge extra for the campaigns, steam is the only safe way of running this great game.
Still, why not include the campaigns from the beginning on is absolutely beyond me.

I'm sorry. Campaigns are ready to be published on STEAM, but those guys are very busy with holidays preparations (I must say, store page looks great!), so they promise to put DLC right after New Year...

Wow really? You're going to make us PAY for content that we should already have!? I find that a complete disgrace!! When I had the retail game, we bought the game because all the content that was promised was given, and additional content that we wanted we bought in the expansions. Are you SERIOUSLY telling us that we have to pay extra to get the expansion missions / campaigns that were part of the expansion we've already PAID FOR!? Way to rob your LOYAL users!! We should have been given them already at the point we handed over our money!!

Well, N-TWO-O now, thanks to you, I see why my last post with link to campaigns from C1: EW and C1: AoW to BtW disapear.
It is not sin that someone want to earn money but now it go to far. Disgusting. ;/

Wow really?Imagine Cossacks @STEAM is just another game. When you bought Cossacks years ago, it was sold you on AS IS basis. EULA did not promise you a FREE lifetime support, bugfixes to run on a future hardware and OS-es. License didn't guarantee you a FREE multiplayer support for 10 years. There is no subscription fee like in other games, there is no ads - but we should pay for servers. We should fix bugs, pay programmers and testers. Don't you think we are a charity organization?

Well, you have right, but community is still alive and searching for solutions for new problems (vide patch to play Cossacks at Windows 7).
License didn't guarantee you a FREE multiplayer support for 10 years.
You have right, but STEAM is not one place in world where people can play Cossacks. Still remain GameSpy, where we can find the best players from all world and GS is for FREE.
There is no subscription fee like in other games, there is no ads - but we should pay for servers.
It simple why is no subscription fee. If someone should paying also from time to time then popularity of Cossacks STEAM will be very low.
We should fix bugs, pay programmers and testers. Don't you think we are a charity organization?
OK. You want to release campaigns as DLC and earn for testers and someone who fix bugs (but this should be in price of game) etc. For mappacks we pay too?

I have owned (and still do) EW, AoW and BtW retail versions (CDs). BtW is only about standalone missions and some tweaked features (as well as those two new nations etc). It does not contain any campaigns, because it never did! BtW also introduced a better multiplayer system (something more like AC), which unfortunately was shut down in favor of Cossacks 2 and naturally is not even included in this version.
I would really like to see all campaigns (and perhaps even missions as well) on BtW, as playing EW where you can't even do anything useful during pause is very frustrating. Not that I'm saying the AI is strong, just when you get used to AoW+, it is an issue.
Also, a question that I must ask is:
Why wasn't M135 (baddog's mod) included with Steam's BtW version? It was included in every retail disc (all available languages). Even though it has a few bugs, it was officially approved by GSC. While people prefer vanilla multiplayer, the mod shines in single player. Especially in all these missions.

1. You (and I) bought BtW. That's why I cannot understand what are you saying.
2. Not in my steam's installation.

Last month I bought Cossacks Complete + Cossacks 2 for 2€ in a tobacconist, but still, I'll buy the campaigns DLC (even though the first description in Steam BtW said all the campaigns were there!) just for the sake of the "install now" button without having to put the disc in.

I remember playing this game as a child, very fond memories.
Its not like they are charging a fortune for it, less then $10 for both. Thats very reasonable for the amount of hours enjoyment you "should" get from this game :)

I doubt Cossack Back to War will be playable on my PC. The last time I tried American Conquest it was way too fast and completely unplayable. I think I also tried installing BTW in the past, but without success. If it worked I'd buy the DLC.
I find it really a shame that no new BTW-like Cossacks has been released for a long time. I bought Napoleonic wars and played it for a while but didn't play it as long as I played BTW and AC.
We need a new Cossacks BTW!

I totally agree. I paid for the game that was described, now I had to pay again for the promised campaign. Good job Steam.

I just asked friend to buy me this as a Gift as the game was under 5€ and promised gameplay of the original European wars + addon for it. I bought the European wars about 10 years ago and I have tried to get it work since Windows XP times (lots of graphical problems).
And now I was just watching how campaign list has only "tutorial". I tried to play the last tutorial trough if it would unlock the european war (+ addon) campaigns. Then I started to feel bad and I ran google check... I found this and now I feel I have been cheated with false promise!
No, I will buy that fu* stupid campaign pack if must, to get this game work. But really.... There is clear promise to get all the gameplay features from the original + addon with this 5 euro offer. And it only gives HALF of the features...
Containing all of the gameplay features of Cossacks: European Wars and Cossacks: The Art of War, this is a complete care package for all current and future Cossacks fans.
How can only AI gameplay and tutorial be all gameplay features and a complete care package for all current and future cossacks fans?
Definitely you are not gaining fans with this cheating and definitely you lost two (me and my friend)....
(No, there is no DLC to get campaigns or anything...)

Nobody promised you to get campaigns. Did you see that word in game description? Gameplay features? Do you know what does it mean? Just google a little to understand, that you are wrong.

Augustus will include a brand new campaign comprising of 12 missions, new maps and a wealth of enhanced gameplay features.

Look, gameplay features and maps or missions are listed via comma - so they are definitely different things.
