The first Puzzle Quest 2 Steam update has been released. It will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. This is the list of changes:

Hero selection - the first hero that appears in the hero select screen is now the hero you were last using in quest mode
Chasm spell text updated
Extra hero info in inventory - when you mouse over the portrait in the inventory, a tooltip appears to show you the stats you can't normally see
1600x900 & 1024x600 resolution support added
Steam button - selecting the Steam button on the main menu gives you the option to view achievements, stats, the official group, and the PQ2 steam forum (must have Steam Community In-Game enabled)
Treasure Grab! minigame loot drops have increased. Gives extra loot for matching 4/5 chests, extra loot on higher difficulty
Mod support added
Fix for the "Royal Door" quest door - the pathfinding sent the player to the wrong door, this is now fixed
Gem dragging ability - added the ability to drag gems to move them
Updated directx web installer - fixes issues on windows 7, the game wouldn't install correctly with the old directx installer
Fixed issues with hint arrow - the hint arrow would appear in some cases when it was turned off mid-battle
Balanced the Assassin spell 'Weaken' - gave it a two turn cooldown and increased the cost from 5 Yellow to 5 Yellow and 4 Green
'Completionist' achievement counter fix - the achievement was working, but the counter displayed on the user's achievements page wasn't updating
'You're doing it wrong' achievement fixed - it was counting the molten metal and hammer of the righteous weapons when it shouldn't have
'Hold the Line' spell fixed - it wasn't correctly giving immunity to Fear
Poisons of the same kind (but with varying rarity and/or race) were stacking - poisons stacking with two varieties of the same base type was never intended and was removed. eg. You can now stack Wyvern with Manticore, or Manticore with Arachna, but not Wyvern with Wyvern, or Manticore with Manticore.
Updated FMOD version
Item drop tables tweaked - players will see less Normal, Fine and Masterwork grade items as they get deeper into the game. They'll see more Legendary and Epic items instead

Let us know what you think of these changes in the forums, and as always if you have any issues to report please follow our support email guide (http://forums.infinite-interactive.com/showthread.php?t=5275).

Edit: You may have noticed we haven't mentioned Steam Cloud support in this list. We're currently working with Valve to add Steam Cloud support for save files for all of our titles on Steam via a Steam client update, meaning we won't need to do specific patches for those games. This feature will be available for Puzzle Quest 2 very soon.

It's good to know that this game gets the needed support, and upcoming Steam cloud seems promissing :) I was just wondering if there were any plans of possible improvement in AI behaviour... Like i mentioned in some other thread, some bosses tend to screw up it's core mechanincs, i mean it's main purpose should be casting insta kill as soon as possible, while i remember them ignoring that like 2 times in a row... seriously, how the heck can this be called a 'boss fight', if i can beat it in casual way without much of effort?
Well, you could say there's multiplayer for more challenge - yes , i agree , just a problem that it's almost impossible to find others (beside some friends)to play against... I know it's because of not big community of this game on steam, but in my point of view , it can be improved too, for instance, adding nultiplayer tournament mode would be really nice...
I know i mentioned many things that cant be considered quickly, but it's little critics (my point of view) to improve otherwise really fun turn based puzzle game :)

You listened to the outcry regarding the drag and drop function and now I bought your game. The sale helped in the decision. :)

Lovely nerf on weaken, I actually attempted to do a one turn kill on the ogre with it and all strikes except the yellow one. :)

Is it into consideration that the next patch would do something to let the lobby system actually works?
Like enable to play while hosting?

Except that the drag and drop barely works. It functions on mouse click release, instead of simply going the way you drag the mouse. If you fail to release on the exact gem you want, it breaks, selecting another gem. This is particularly annoying on the boss sized grids, requiring more thought than it should (it should require no thought).

I get the feeling that the Puzzle Quest team is mostly artists, with very few animators and game designers/playtesters. It's still frought with unnecessary delays all over the place which break the pace and flow of the game. Weapon animation, whole board blocked, damaged blocked... lag... hp drain... can't move or do anything... frustration after about 40 hours. This is a game which should be pick up and play with infinite replayability, but because it plays so slowly I can't see myself playing through with another character, despite the well-designed variety and differences between each class.

I still enjoy the game, it's just frustrating that such small and obvious things like pacing and flow go unnoticed and turn the game from something which you shouldn't be able to put down to something which feels more like a slow grind.

I want to thank you for the support you showed us. This is more than many bigger companies have provided. I just hope that the sales have not been disappointing and that you will release future expansion on the PC also.

Please add a "very difficult" setting, difficult is WAY TOO EASY!
