Usually after a battle we get the message: Decisive/close Victory/Defeat.

Well after an almost embarrasingly large amount of SP play, I had this one as the French invading England.

' Valiant Defeat '.

Not even sure what was done to recieve it. Ok I had one army vs 3 armies of British largely made up of Fencibles of which I killed a great many of, but unfortunatley I clicked on the result before seeing the stats.

No, haven't seen it; it's probably the opposite of "Pyrrhic Victory" which is also very rare.

Yeah never seen it here either. But the only thing that comes to mind of why that would be said is because the french and Brits are like arch enemy's they HATE each other and that might have just been a way of the game saying "good job". Was it just a land battle or was it a battle for London.

Valiant Defeat would indeed be the opposite of a phyrric victory.

You may have lost, but you dealt your opponent a far heftier blow then they did you.

Occours more often if you not try to win battles at all cost.
Attacking a fullstack army with some light cav units supportet with horse arty, kill some and retreat bevore you lose a single man.

I ha a pyrrhic victory, even though it was an incredible victory with very few losses for me, while the enemy were smashed

well game engine obviously thinks you've lost much more than you gained.
