View Full Version : The one thing I was disappointed with

The lack of a rival store to mercilessly beat down. When Alouette was introduced at the end of the demo I was kind of looking forward to it. As it is, she's the worst rival evar in a game.
At least I can force her to buy my crap at exorbitant prices.

It would have been fun to have a store rivalry as an option after end-game.

Alouette is practically the idolized "Dumb Blonde", per se.

I will say that I expected SOMETHING of her in the game. After the whole "I'm going to destroy you and all you love speech."...
At the very least I thought she wouldn't have purchased anything from me.

I'd have to agree with Aerowind, though, I really was hoping there'd be some competition against Alouette, lol.
Instead, she comes in my shop and buys my crap so I can ridiculously overcharge her and laugh at her face.

Actually, I thought she would run an extremely gaudy shop and take over all my clientele. She made me believe the more exorbitant decor I install, the better things sell, hah.
For a rival, she sure does help you out a lot in those early weeks by buying expensive stuff nobody else can afford. Her fairy Prime, on the other hand, is one tough bastard who will never, ever buy anything priced above 104%, if then.

Well, that's supposed to be part of the joke, really; Alouette is stupendously bad at actually being a rival to you since she doesn't actually control Big Bash to start with. This even becomes a plot point later in the game.
Besides, what she really wants is a friend, not a rival, even if she won't admit it.
If EGS ever makes another game like this, a proper "rival store" is definitely up there on the list of ideas, though.

I've managed to get Prime to buy my stuff around 115-120%, it just takes a while. I'm pretty sure most, if not all, these characters you haggle are building trust by selling cheaper to gain more percentage out of them.

First meeting: Alouette is the enemy, Prime is her side-kick that doesn't seem too happy about it.
Few meetings after: Prime seems to of taken dominance and is the enemy, Alouette is her (unknowing and dim-witted) side-kick.
At least, that is how it looks to me: The roles reverse. Kinda.

You could expand to more stores, hire managers etc. It reminds me somewhat of Wet: the sexy empire, where you start with a small shack and end up with stores all over the country. That would have been great.

Maybe EGS might just do that.
Sequel to Recettear, global item shop empire!
Thou that would take away some of the RPG-ness.
Maybe a type of travelling item-shop merchant.

Oh yeah, I hope Recettear's success in the West will make EGS consider making a sequel to the game. Would love to re-visit all the characters. ^^

Best answer.
Recette time travels and has to put herself out of business.
Booyah.

Mind you, Prime does tend to buy expensive items. 110-105 is a pretty bad margin, but selling a top dollar item instead of shelving it for several days can be the difference between making and missing a payment.
